The present invention relates to hand held apparatus which is for use in the provision of a supply of a liquid, such as water, which is emitted from the apparatus at a pressure which is greater than that at which it enters the apparatus and which apparatus is commonly referred to as a pressure washer. The invention is particularly, although not solely, related to the provision of the apparatus with a power supply which is mounted on the same and therefore renders the apparatus completely portable and the apparatus is provided with a pump, operating control means and features which allow a greater pressure of the liquid that is emitted to be achieved than is possible with conventional battery powered pressure water apparatus.

The invention to which the application relates is a power tool and battery pack system which comprises at least two battery packs and a plurality of power tools with said power tools operable at any one of a range of three predetermined rated voltage levels and each of the three predetermined rated voltage levels can be supplied from at least one of the battery packs in the system, Typically each of the battery packs can selectively provide at least two of the three predetermined rated voltage levels. The particular rated voltage level which is provided by a battery pack to a power tool which is connected to the same at an instant of time, is determined by the configuration of an electrical circuit portion provided within the power tool. Thus, the system allows a range of power tools operable at different voltages, to be supplied with an appropriate voltage level and also prevent the supply of power at an incorrect voltage level to a power tool.

The invention relates to apparatus (2) and a method for the dispensing of fluid material particles under pressure and with an electrostatic charge. The apparatus (2) and method allow, when the apparatus has been moved from a dispensing mode, a purge of said fluid material to be performed so as to at least reduce the quantity of electrostatically charged fluid material retained within the apparatus. A dispensing assembly (22) can also be provided including a nozzle (26) which can be selectively attached thereto. The nozzle (26) and purging of the apparatus allow the risk of electric shock discharge to operators of this type of apparatus to be reduced.
