Abstract

In order to detect a flow of milk, the invention proposes an apparatus which has a channel (2), which has an inlet (3) and an outlet (4). At least two electrically conductive elements (8, 12), which are arranged spaced apart from one another, are provided in the channel (2). At least one element (8) is substantially annular. Furthermore, at least one element (12) is substantially in the form of a pin. The channel (2) has at least one chamber (15), which has at least one measuring unit (18) for measuring the conductance of the milk, wherein the chamber (15) has an inlet opening (16), upstream of which a flow element is arranged. This configuration according to the invention of a device for detecting a flow of milk results in a relatively simple design of the device which has a relatively high measurement accuracy.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for milking animals, according to which a low pressure is periodically created and then eliminated at a pre-determined frequency in the intermediate region of a milking cup. The low pressure is maintained over a pre-determined suction phase (b) and eliminated over a pre-determined release phase (d). In this way, the ratio between the suction phase (b) and the release phase (d) changes at least once during the milking process. In a preferred form of embodiment, the first time interval does not exceed a pre-determined first threshold value, and the second time interval does not go below a pre-determined second threshold value.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a milking station and to a method for milking and refers, in particular, to measures for improving hygiene at a milking station. In order to improve the hygiene conditions at the milking station, the present invention proposes assigning associated means (16) for removing contaminants stuck to the floor to the floor of the accommodating area (2). Furthermore, means (12) for producing a directed flow of the contaminants is provided on the floor. According to the inventive method, the surface of the milking area is wetted by means which are integrated in the region of the floor of the milking area before an animal is milked, and dirt is washed away from the floor of the milking area after milking. The floor is then automatically wetted once again.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the computer-based identification of mastitis in the milk-producing animals of a herd. According to said method, individual animals are automatically identified by an animal identification system that forms part of a herd management system and a milk sample that is assigned to an animal is taken and analysed for mastitis. The invention takes into account the fact that different animals in a herd can have an individual tendency to contract mastitis, so that not all the animals in said herd have to be examined with the same frequency for a possible case of mastitis. The invention thus proposes that after the animal identification process, the herd management system decides whether a milk sample is taken and/or analysed, based on animal-specific information that is stored in the herd management system.

Abstract

The method according to the invention for determining information on an animal and/or animal milk, in which a sensor unit detects four items of data relating to the health, well-being and/or behaviour of the animal and/or data relating to the quality or composition of the animal milk and/or data relating to a physical, chemical, biological and/or morphological property of the animal milk and uses a transmitting and/or receiving unit (6) to wirelessly transmit said data to a central data unit (10), is distinguished by the fact that activation and/or signalling for data transmission is/are effected separately from the actual data transmission. The method according to the invention, the device according to the invention which has been set up to carry out, and is suitable for carrying out, the method according to the invention and the milking installation and herd management installation having this device according to the invention make it possible to determine information on an animal and/or animal milk in an energy-saving manner, thus achieving comparatively long operating times and thus reliable operation.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for animals in a group at a plurality of milking locations formed in a milking parlour, in which method a milking device is manually attached to the udder of the animal to be milked substantially successively at each milking location and milking is started by a milking controller which controls the milking device. In order to adapt to the individual requirements of the milker, the invention proposes starting a subsequent milking device of the milking parlour in an automated manner in the order which corresponds to the order in which the milking device was attached and after the preceding milking controller is started. The invention can be used to start different phases of milking, for example the automatic preparation phase for arranging the milking container at a removal position for the user or the milking phase in which milk is milked from the animal to be milked, in an automated manner on the basis of the time values which are each required by a user beforehand for user-specific phases.
