BRAKING DEVICE WITH AUTOMATIC RELEASABILITY IN ALL OPERATING SITUATIONS
The invention relates to a braking device for an elevator having a rail-guided elevator car, wherein the braking device has a main body to be secured (generally in floating fashion) to the elevator cabin or counterweight, which, when correctly installed, surrounds a rail and holds a braking member in position on one side of the guide rail and and holds a further braking member on the opposite side of the guide rail, at least one of the braking members being held in its ready position at a distance from the rail with the aid of a switchable holding magnet, against the force of an independent actuator, in such a way that the braking member, when the holding magnet is switched by the actuator, is pushed away from the holding magnet and against the rail, so that an air gap between the holding magnet and the braking member is created or becomes larger. The braking device is designed such that the braking member, when the elevator car is travelling (more than just negligibly) at the time when the braking member comes to bear against the rail, is retracted by itself between the main body and the rail, and such that the holding magnet is equipped with an air gap reducing means, by means of which the air gap between the holding magnet and the braking member not yet retracted between the rail and the main body can be reduced or eliminated, in such a way that the holding magnet, as soon as it is switched over accordingly, holds the braking member again magnetically.

DECELERATING OR CATCHING MECHANISM COMPRISING A ROLL PARTLY RUNNING ON A BRONZE COATING AND AN OBLIQUE FRICTIONAL SURFACE
Disclosed is a decelerating and/or catching mechanism (14) for an elevator car which is guided along vertical guide rails (2) inside a shaft. Said decelerating and/or catching mechanism (14) comprises a pressure element (19) that is to be mounted on the car. When properly mounted, the gap-forming section (20a) of the pressure element (19) and the associated guide rails form a gap (20), into which a roll (9) is pulled in case of a deceleration or catching action. A stop is provided that limits the distance by which the roll (9) is pulled into the gap (20) and thus predefines a final position for the roll (9). In the final position, the roll essentially rolls on the guide rail (2) and slides along the pressure element (19). On the side facing the pressure element (19), in the area of the final position of the gap (20), the gap (20) is locally provided with a fitting (33) which is made of a bearing material and is designed and arranged in such a way that in the final position of the roll (9), the roll (9) slides in part on the fitting (33) made of the bearing material and in part on the harder material of the pressure element (19) that forms the remaining sliding surface.

The invention relates to an elevator comprising an elevator car 1, which is preferably suspended at the top thereof on a carrying means and guided on tracks, a driving disk mechanism, and a counterweight, wherein the carrying structure is made two frames 2a, 2b surrounding the elevator car in the manner of a closed ring for the purpose of transferring the forces caused by the mass of the elevator car, including the payload thereof, onto the carrying means and vice versa, each ring being substantially formed by closed hollow profiles, the two frames being rigidly connected to one another by bridges 4, 16, resulting in a unified, fixed carrying structure in the shape of a twin frame, each of the two frames being located symmetrically to the side of the guide rails and not flush with the guide rails and using the installation space already available to the side of the guide rails. The frames 2a, 2b are arranged at such a distance from one another that space remains between them for accommodating at least one essential elevator element and each of the frames is either an integral component of two side walls and the ceiling of the elevator car, or at least resting with substantially the entire surfaces thereof from the outside against the side walls and ceiling of the elevator car.
