Abstract

In order to apply lids (3) onto packagings (1) configured as cans, the individual packagings (1) are combined in a defined order to form a packing unit (5) and are delivered in batches to an application station. There, the individual lids associated with the respective packagings are combined into a configuration (6) and pressed onto the packagings (1) by means of a roll (8). The lids (3) have the same order in the configuration (6) as the individual packagings in the packing unit (5). In order to combine the lids (3) into a configuration (6), a carrier (10) in the form of a film may be used.
