Abstract

This invention relates to a water in oil emulsion composition which provides enhanced delivery of water soluble skin benefit agent. The invention more particularly relates to a wash off composition e.g that for washing hair, body, hand or face which generally contain anionic surfactants and yet provide enhanced delivery of such agents. It does this by delivering the actives through a specific water-in-oil emulsion. The water-in-oil emulsion comprises a hydrophobic phase preferably petrolatum with preferred emulsifiers being non-ionic surfactant of specified HLB range.

Abstract

The present invention relates generally to a water treatment assembly and in particular to a reverse osmosis assembly. It is an object of the present invention to provide a membrane assembly for treating water which increases the permeate volume without altering the existing membrane module. It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a membrane assembly for enhancing the membrane life. At least some of the above objects is achieved by providing a membrane assembly for treating water with a flow resistance element disposed on the permeate line for increasing the pressure in at least part of the permeate line upstream the flow resistance element and a valve means located between the pump and the membrane module; wherein the valve means is configured to intermittently change the direction of flow of the feed water discharged from the pump to enter the membrane module through the concentrate line and exit the membrane module through the feed line.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a fabric for purification of water. An object of the present invention is to provide a fabric for purification of liquids which achieves at least 2 log reductions of bacteria, and viruses. It is a further object of the present invention to provide a fabric for purification of liquids which provides high flow rates in gravity fed water purification systems. The present inventors have surprisingly found that a fabric having a matrix of polymer impregnated with organosilane superimposed on a surface of the fibre of a fibrous support not only provides reduction of viruses from a liquid to be purified at low pressure drops but also removes bacteria without using a separate microfiltration membrane and also retains high flow rates.

Abstract

Disclosed is a novel compound and a process of preparing it. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity and can be utilised in a wide range of cosmetic compositions. The compound is a 2(1H)- pyridinone of formula (1) in amide or enol form. It may be prepared by exposing a solution of piroctone olamine in an organic solvent or in water comprising at least one surfactant to UV radiation to degrade the piroctone olamine. The compound of formula (1) is separated from the degradation products by chromatography.

Abstract

This invention relates to hair care compositions containing a branched organopolysiloxane, "oil in water" emulsion. Despite the prior art, there still exists the opportunity to increase the benefits delivered through conditioning hair care compositions. A particular need exists for hair care compositions which can deliver enhanced silicone deposition, especially to the damaged parts of the hair. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a hair care composition which can deliver enhanced silicone deposition onto the hair, in particular damaged hair. It has been found that this can be achieved by a hair care composition comprising a conditioning gel phase with an aqueous emulsion of a branched organopolysiloxane comprising an aqueous continuous phase of water and a cationic surfactant or a blend of non-ionic and cationic surfactants and a dispersed phase of the branched organopolysiloxane and a hydrocarbon oil, and the aqueous emulsion having a particle size of 5 to less than 12 microns Dv(50).

Abstract

The present invention is in the field of sustainable cleansing or conditioning products; in particular, relates to a method of providing a sustainable cleansing or conditioning product to a consumer with reduced usage of plastic for packaging while maintaining the general consumer expectation of the product. Different methods are known in the art to reduce plastics in packaging cleansing and conditioning products. However, when it involves a change in the way the product is delivered to the consumers, it has been a challenge to provide consumer satisfaction. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a sustainable cleansing or conditioning product which uses reduced volume of plastic or packaging material without affecting the general consumer expectation of a cleansing or conditioning product. It has been found that this can be achieved by the method of the present invention.

Abstract

The present invention relates to an extruded soap bar composition. It more particularly relates to a soap bar composition which comprises low amount of soap where high amount of water can be incorporated. This is achieved by including selective amount of a mixture of sodium or calcium silicate and an acrylic/acrylate polymer, wherein the soap bar comprises 0.01 to 0.7 wt% of the polymer. The soap bars of the invention are easy to extrude and has acceptable product hardness.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of demonstrating the benefits of oral hygiene. It more particularly relates to a method of demonstrating objectively the consumer response to pleasant odours provided by flavour odours incorporated in toothpastes and other oral care products which are shown in the present invention to excite or relax the mood as compared to malodour which has been shown to stress or sadden the mood. The present invention demonstrates this method by correlating the results as measured using physiological measurement with that perceived personally by individuals.

Abstract

A method of identifying a toothbrush user from among a plurality of different toothbrush users comprises obtaining data indicative of toothbrush motion relative to at least two axes of the toothbrush and filtering the motion data to extract motion data over a predetermined frequency range, such as within a predetermined frequency passband. A motion component distribution of the filtered motion data is determined, and the motion component distribution is compared with a plurality of user-specific motion component distributions to establish the data as indicative of one of said plurality of users. Toothbrushing data captured by a multi-user toothbrush motion tracking system can thereby be ascribed to a correct user within a cohort of users of the system.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a membrane system and a process for cleaning the membrane. The invention also provides a method for enhancing the life of the filtration membrane by the process of cleaning the membrane module. The present inventors investigated ways of improving the cleaning process in a membrane module, particularly the reverse osmosis membrane assembly to avoid the scaling and fouling of the membrane while enhancing the recovery of the purified water and membrane life. It is thus an object of the present invention to provide a membrane assembly which reduces scaling and fouling of the membrane module while enhancing the membrane life. The present inventors have surprisingly found that in a membrane assembly (100) comprising a pressurizable reservoir (109) for cleaning a membrane module(105), the membrane life is significantly improved by initiating a back-flow cleaning when the pressure in the pressurizable reservoir reaches a predetermined pressure value and wherein the predetermined pressure value is selected to maintain a difference in pressure between the permeate line (106) and the concentrate line (107) during the back flow operation of less than 18 psig (1.24 bar), preferably less than 15 psig (1.03 bar) for 2 minutes.

Abstract

A closure (10), especially useful for e-commerce. The closure comprises a lid (16) and a cap base (12) which can be releasably fastened to a container, the cap base including an opening (24). The lid has a depending plug (26) extending therefrom which is received within the opening in the cap base when the lid is in the closed position. The opening is formed within a cylindrical opening wall (88). When the lid is in its open position, extending outwardly from the depending plug at its end distal from the lid are one or more barb flaps (82). As the lid is moved to its closed position with the depending plug within the cylindrical opening wall, the barbs are pushed up against the walls of the plug and are received within a recess in the cylindric opening wall. Within the recess, the bar flaps abut an upper wall of the recess (40) such that extra force is required to open the lid, e.g., during shipping. When the consumer wishes to open the lid, he or she exerts the extra force needed to force the lid open, which causes the barb flaps to assume their original positions extending outwardly from the cylindrical plug.
