In one embodiment, the applicant's method supplies a mixture of terpenoid compounds derived from d-limonene, soy methyl esters, and non-toxic glycol ether esters reacted in a specific sequence with inorganic catalyst to yield a mixture the effectively reduces the viscosity of crude oil and oil sands.
