Described herein are techniques that employ a data engine for providing service to endpoints such as automated banking machines. For example, when a maintenance task is to be performed, the appropriate skill and parts for completing the task are determined. A maintenance technician is selected to perform the maintenance task who is the closet technician to the endpoint that has the appropriate skill and part. The data engine is also operable to gather and correlate data for the various components of the endpoint and determine predictive and proactive actions for maintaining the components.

A system provides for a self-checkout terminal with various components. A receiver receives shopping data including prices of items that a customer has physically acquired or placed in a cart. A payment logic receives credential information associated with a monetary account for paying for the items. A message logic creates checkout data that includes data representing the collection of purchase items. A transmitter transmits the credential information to an account network for authentication and the receiver receives a response indicating if the monetary account is valid. The payment logic/self-checkout terminal indicates to the customer that a payment using the monetary account for the purchase items is authorized or not. When authorized, an authorization is received at the self-checkout terminal before the customer arrives at the terminal and the self-checkout terminal causes a payment transaction to be executed to provide for self-checkout using the monetary account without assistance by another person.

An embodiment includes an apparatus in an ATM to transport a document. The apparatus includes a feed wheel, a stripping tire, a clutch outer-hub and a clutch inner-hub. The feed wheel may be rotated by a first-rotational driver to move the document in a forward direction while the stripping tire is rotated by movable contact with the feed wheel. The computing device can transmit data remotely through the transceiver and can receive data through the transceiver. The self-service terminal also includes a card module having an intake configured to receive a card. The card module defines a path of movement for the card. The card module includes first and second optical scanners positioned on opposite sides of the path to respectively capture images from opposite sides of the card. The card module also includes at least one card reader configured to read one of a chip embedded in the card and a magnetic strip of the card.
