Abstract

The device, for use in a glove dispenser box, comprises a unitary integrally moulded plastics reticulated network which is transformable from a compressed flat configuration to an uncompressed extended configuration. In the extended configuration, the reticulated network defines a base structure comprising a peripheral frame having a predetermined footprint, and a platform for supporting a load above the footprint, the platform being generally smaller than the footprint. The reticulated network is such that integral reticulations forming the network and connecting the peripheral frame to the platform define, in the extended configuration, an array of apertures each having an upper edge with two downwardly curved portions of the integral reticulations extending from the upper edge of the aperture; and a lower edge with two upwardly curved portions of the integral reticulations extending from the lower edge of the aperture to meet the respective downwardly curved portions.

Abstract

The glove has a palmar portion (1), a dorsal portion (2), four fingers (4,5,6,7) and a thumb (3), and comprising a puncture-resistant cap (8) for the thumb and a puncture-resistant finger cap (9,10,11,12) for each fingers. There is a puncture- resistant outer intermediate protector for an intermediate phalange of each finger, each intermediate protector being connected to a respective one of the finger caps by a respective first hinged connection, and spaced from the respective finger cap by a flexible web member on a face remote from the first hinged connection. There is a puncture-resistant outer proximal protector for a proximal phalange of each respective finger, each proximal protector being connected to a respective intermediate protector by a second hinged connection and spaced from the respective intermediate protector by flexible web material; on a face remote from the second hinged connection. There is furthermore a plurality of first puncture- resistant inner shield elements for each finger, each inner shield element being provided internally of a respective finger so as to span a respective space between adjacent ones of the intermediate protectors and the proximal protectors and/or between a respective one of the intermediate protectors and a finger cap. A puncture-resistant outer palmar shield is provided for shielding the palmar portion, the palmar shield being spaced from each of the outer proximal protectors and from said thumb by flexible web material; and there is at least one puncture- resistant inner shield element provided internally of the glove so as to span spaces between espective outer proximal protectors and the outer palmar shield, and between the thumb and the outer palmar shield, the flexible web material permitting flexing of respective joints of the user's hand and fingers.

Abstract

The glove suitable for use at crime scenes comprises a unitary disposable glove with an outer surface having thereon machine readable indication enabling a glove bearing such an indication to be distinguished from a glove not bearing such an indication, such indication being provided on at least a palm portion and grip portions of the tips of four fingers and a thumb of the glove. The outer surface and the machine readable indication are optionally coated by a thin layer of oleaginous material (grease). Preferably the outer surface has thereon a multiplicity of protrusions integral with the glove, the protrusions covering at least a palm portion and grip portions of the tips of four fingers and a thumb, the protrusions all being substantially identical machine readable geometrical shapes having at least three straight edges. The gloves are useful in a method of investigating a crime scene, wherein crime scene operatives don the gloves for handling items at the crime scene, and items at the crime scene are then machine read to identify prints thereon made by gloves of the crime scene operatives.

Abstract

A cut-resistant fabric has at least a fabric section knitted with composite metallic core yarns (22, 24). One or each of some or all courses of the knitted section comprises a first core yarn (22) knitting alternate first stitches and a second core yarn (24) knitting alternate second stitches. Each core yarn (22, 24) extends between its respective alternate stitches floating in the intermediate stitch. This arrangement increases the bulk of the yarn material by unit area in the section, adding considerably to its cut-resistant properties. The fabric has a particular application in gloves for use in the meat-cutting and foam-cutting industries.
