Abstract

Nation-modified electrodes for the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) to hydrocarbon products. Depending on the thickness of the Nation membrane and its admixture with other polymers, CO2 reduction occurs principally at the electrode-polymer interface. A Nation overlayer of 15 μm on a Cu electrode enables an extraordinarily high yield of CH4 production (88% Faradaic efficiency) at a low overpotential (540 mV). Other embodiments directed to admixtures of Nation and other polymers and/or cocatalysts, various metal substrates and electrolyte solutions which comprise an aprotic solvent in addition to a bicarbonate solution show impact on the Faradaic efficiency, yield and carbon-based products produced by the present invention.

Abstract

Technologies are provided for the supply of video segments and other types of media assets during a gameplay of a videogame. In some embodiments, a gaming device can receive first data identifying a sports player within a listing of sports players. The gaming device also can receive second data identifying a performance benchmark within a listing or performance benchmarks. The gaming device can select a performance period corresponding to the sports player. The gaming device can then determine if a performance of the sports player during the performance period meets or exceeds the performance benchmark. In response to a positive determination, the gaming device can cause a display device to present a sequence of video segments corresponding to the performance of the sports player during the performance period.

Abstract

Described herein are methods for recovering lithium metal, lithium hydride, or lithium hydroxide from lithium salts by dissolving the lithium salt in ionic liquids in the presence of a nonaqueous acid and applying a current to the solution. The method achieves the technical effect of efficiently and economically recovering lithium metal by dissolving a lithium salt at up to 7 M concentrations in an ionic liquid with a nonaqueous acid and electrochemically reducing the lithium to deposit lithium metal. The method includes combining a lithium salt and a nonaqueous acid to form a composition comprising the lithium salt and the nonaqueous acid; adding an ionic liquid to the composition to form an ionic liquid composition; and applying a potential to the ionic liquid composition to deposit lithium onto an electrode.

Abstract

A device for machining a work piece creates an electrical potential between an electrode and the work piece or another conducting body proximate to the work piece. The electrical potential establishes an electrical field within the work piece that is expected to repel electrons and create a region of positively charged ions which repel one another. This region is expected to be weakened and material is expected to be removable from this region of the work piece using less force and energy than when machined by traditional machining techniques.

Abstract

A radiation therapy system is equipped with a combined imaging system, such as an imaging system combining computed tomography (CT), spectral CT, and single photon emission tomography imaging (SPECT), for guidance of radiation beams providing radiotherapy. The system can include at least one x-ray source that emits an x-ray beam at a low energy level for imaging and/or an x-ray beam at a high energy level for radiation therapy. The system can also include at least one imager, such as a cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) or cadmium telluride (CdTe) flat-panel imager that receives x-ray beams traversing a subject from the x-ray source and gamma rays emitted by radioisotope tracers injected into the subject. Based on the guidance of the triple images (CT, spectral CT, and SPECT), a computer system can control the radiation therapeutic beam delivery to target areas, such as lesions and/or tumors.

A plurality of continuous pulses can be designed, with each of the continuous pulses corresponds to one of the plurality of symbols in the received vector. Any two pulses selected from the plurality of continuous pulses can be orthogonal. The plurality of continuous pulses can be sampled to produce a corresponding plurality of discrete pulses. The received vector can be transformed based on a transform matrix constructed using on the plurality of discrete pulses. The transformed vector can be transmitted to a receiver.

Abstract

Methods and systems are provided for transmitting data using an orthogonal pules shape multiplexing scheme. A transmitter can receive a vector comprising a plurality of symbols.

Abstract

A frame for a press apparatus for selectively applying a tri-axial load to a sample material. The frame has a longitudinal axis and includes a bottom support assembly, a top support assembly, and first and second pairs of opposed lateral support assemblies. Each lateral support assembly is selectively attachable to the bottom and the top support assemblies, and each lateral support assembly is selectively detachable from at least one of the bottom and the top support assemblies to permit access to an interior space defined by the top, bottom, and lateral support assemblies.

Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer readable media are described herein for initiating a second round for a game. A round of the game can comprise: a) pseudo-randomly generating a set of game piece symbols, b) matching a game piece symbol to one or more symbols in the pseudo-random set of possible winning combinations of symbols, c) indicating to the user that the one or more symbols in the pseudo-random set of possible winning combinations of symbols have matched, and d) if all symbols in a possible winning combination of symbols are matched, awarding the user the corresponding payout value of the possible winning combination of symbols. A second round of the game can be offered; if accepted, at least one of the possible winning combinations of symbols with a lowest corresponding payout value that has not yet matched can be removed from the set of possible winning combinations of symbols.
