Abstract

A filter filters a flow of liquid and has a pressure vessel, a filter assembly deployed within the pressure vessel, and a backwash assembly. The pressure vessel has an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path in fluid communication with the outlet. The filter assembly has at least one filter unit and at least one support configuration that supports the at least one filter element. The at least one filter element has first and second coarse mesh material support layer that have apertures of a first and second size, respectively, and a cloth filter layer that has apertures of a third size smaller than the first and second sizes. The cloth filter layer is interposed between the first and second coarse mesh material support layers. The backwash assembly has a suction nozzle in facing relation to a first or second surface of the filter unit.

Abstract

A filter includes a filter assembly deployed within a pressure vessel. The filter includes a series of filter configurations arranged along a central flow path connected to an outlet. Each filter configuration has filter screens overlying at least one filtrate channel which directs filtered fluid to the central flow path, A partition is deployed within the pressure vessel so as to subdivide the pressure vessel into a first filter chamber and a second filter chamber, each containing a number of the filter assemblies. A flow diverter is deployed in the central flow path for diverting a flow of filtered liquid passing along the central flow path from the first filter chamber so as to flow outwards from the central flow path to undergo a second filtering in the second filter chamber. Also disclosed is an outlet flow throttling arrangement to avoid overload of a backwash cleaning system.

Abstract

A duct for use in a system for separating particles suspended in a fluid and a method for designing such duct. The duct comprises at least one trapping-bay portion having a main channel extending along a curved central line defining a fluid flow direction and trapping bay(s) for trapping at least a part of the particles and coextensive with the channel along the line. The channel and the bay(s) are as follows in a cross-section of the trapping-bay portion taken perpendicularly to the line: the channel has a basic polygonal shape defined by at least four channel walls including outer, inner, upper and lower channel walls; and the bay protrudes from the inner and/or outer channel walls away from the line and has bay walls generally parallel to the corresponding walls of the channel oriented in the same way, the area of the bay smaller than that of the channel.

Abstract

A filter for filtering a flow of liquid a filter assembly with a number of filter disks coaxially arrayed along a central flow path within a pressure vessel. Each filter disk has a number of segments. The segments are preferably implemented as spacers with outward-facing filler screen support configurations supporting first and second filter screens. The filter screen support configurations have a cellular form that is open over a majority of a surface area, An arrangement of support ribs are deployed to maintain a spacing between the first and second filter screen support configurations. At least 80 percent of an internal volume of each of the segments is preferably open to allow liquid flow from the screens to the central flow path. Also disclosed are modular structure's of the filter disks, and a backwash arrangement which performs a spiral scanning motion across the surface of each filter disk.
