Abstract

A feeding assembly for forming and feeding glass gobs includes a bowl for containing molten glass and a plurality of outlet bodies with orifices of different diameters that can be mounted interchangeably in a fixed position below the bowl. The orifices of a mounted outlet body are aligned with corresponding plungers that are axially movable along vertical axes to form glass beads from the molten glass. A cutting device is arranged below the orifices to cut the beads and form the gobs. The assembly is configured during a production change by selecting one of the available diameters to meet a weight and/or a shape factor for the gobs to be fed, determining a target glass flow rate, checking whether the assembly with the selected diameter meets the target glass flow rate, and, if not, adjusting a height position of the orifices relative to the bowl.

In a section for forming glass articles, provided with a forming mould, the glass gobs are fed into the cavities of the forming mould via a configurable gob guiding unit. The invention relates to a device for transferring panel material in a production line, particularly for producing glass panels, solar cells, or flat glass, but also sheet metal parts or panel materials for producing furniture, plastic panels, etc. The device comprises a first arm (1) that can be driven about a first rotary axis (IA), at least one second arm (2) that can be driven about a second rotary axis (2A) mounted on the first arm (1), wherein the second rotary axis (2A) is parallel to the first rotary axis (IA), and a manipulation device (3) disposed on at least the second arm (2) that can selectively grip and release the panel material. The motion of the first arm (1) around the first rotary axis (IA) and the motion of the second arm (2) around the second rotary axis (2A) are or can be controlled so that the manipulation device (3) pivots below a defined region of the panel material to be transferred in the transfer position, and is positioned from the bottom on the panel material in the transfer position. The panel material can thereby be continuously or nearly continuously fed to the transfer position and the cycle time of a transfer cycle can be reduced.
