Abstract

An electrical power generator comprises a first part (1) arranged for reciprocating movement in relation to a second part (2). The first part (1) comprises at least one first annular magnet comprising a north pole end and a south pole end arranged opposite each other in an axial direction. The second part (2) comprises a core of ferromagnetic material. The core comprises a central portion (21) extending in an axial direction, and two radially extending portions (22, 23) spaced from each other by a gap (24). A coil (25) is wound about the central portion. When subjected to a repetitive oscillatory movement in the radial direction, opposing segments (11A, 11B) of the magnet may enter and exit the gap. The invention also relates to a vortex based power device including the generator.

Abstract

An electrical power generator includes a first part having an elongated shape, a first end and a second end. The first part is arranged for attachment to a base in correspondence with the first end and configured to be located in a fluid and configured such that, when said fluid moves, the first part generates vortices in said fluid so that a lift force is generated on the first part, which produces an oscillating movement of the first part. In addition, the generator includes a subsystem configured for converting the oscillating movement of the first part into electrical energy. The subsystem is at least partially housed within the first part.

Abstract

An electrical power generator comprises a capturing element (1) attached to a base (1000) in correspondence with a first end (11) thereof. The capturing element is located in a fluid and configured such that, when the fluid moves, the capturing element generates vortices in the fluid which produce an oscillating movement of the capturing element (1). The capturing element (1) has a cross section with a characteristic dimension, which decreases from a first longitudinal position (11A) located closer to the first end (11) than to a second end (12) until a second longitudinal position (12A) located closer to the second end (12) than the first longitudinal position (11A).

The capturing element (1) has a cross section with a characteristic dimension, which increases from the first end (11) towards a maximum point (13) where the characteristic dimension reaches a maximum value. From the maximum point (13), the characteristic dimension decreases with a decrease rate in the direction from the first end (11) to a second end (12). The decrease rate decreases at least once in the direction from the first end (11) to the second end (12).

Abstract

An electrical power generator includes a first part configured to be located in a fluid such that, when the fluid moves, it generates vortices in the fluid so that a lift force is generated on the first part, which produces an oscillating movement of the first part, which has an amplitude. The natural oscillation frequency of the first part may be adjusted to wind speed by way of magnets, which repel each other. Magnets may also be used to generate electrical currents in coils. The first part can have a diameter that increases with distance above the base of the generator.
