Abstract

An electrical power distribution system includes a circuit protection device and a switch device. The switch device is switchable between a first state and a second state. The system also includes a lock assembly coupled to the switch device. The lock assembly includes a first member defining a groove and a second member arranged to extend into the groove. The first member is moveable between a first position and a second position. The second member is arranged to extend into a first portion of the groove when the first member is in the first position and to extend into a second portion of the groove when the first member is in the second position. The lock assembly is arranged to inhibit the switch device from switching between the second state and the first state when the first member is in the second position.

Abstract

An electrical power distribution system includes a switch device coupled to a switchgear unit and selectively moveable between an open position and a closed position. The switch device includes a base frame, a main shaft rotatably coupled to the base frame and rotatable between a first position corresponding to the open position and a second position corresponding to the closed position. The switch device further includes at least one drive connection arm coupled to the main shaft. The switch device also includes at least one first connector defining an extension axis when moved from the open to closed position. The at least one drive connection arm is oriented substantially perpendicular to the extension axis when the main shaft is in the first position and the at least one drive connection arm is oriented substantially parallel to the extension axis when the main shaft is rotated to the second position.

Abstract

A switchgear unit for use in an electrical power distribution system includes a breaker compartment containing a circuit breaker and a rack assembly coupled to the circuit breaker. The rack assembly is operable to move the circuit breaker between a first position and a second position within the breaker compartment. The switchgear unit further includes a switch device operable to selectively electrically isolate the circuit breaker and a motor assembly. The motor assembly includes a motor, and a rack transmission coupled between the motor and the rack assembly. The motor assembly also includes a switch transmission coupled between the motor and the switch device, the motor operable to drive the rack transmission to move the circuit breaker using the rack assembly, the motor further operable to drive the switch transmission to selectively electrically isolate the circuit breaker using the switch device.

Abstract

A transformer truck for a transformer system is provided. The transformer truck defines a first direction, a second direction, and a third direction, the three directions orthogonal to each other. The transformer truck includes a housing and a grounding switch mechanism. The housing is arranged to receive a first transformer, the first transformer in a first orientation relative to the third direction and a laterally adjacent second transformer in a second orientation relative to the third direction, wherein the second orientation is opposite to the first orientation. The grounding switch mechanism is coupled to the housing, is switchable between a non-grounded condition and a grounded condition, and includes a pair of grounding arms each coupled to respective inner portions of the housing and rotatable between the non-grounded condition and the grounded condition and a grounding bar extending between the pair of grounding arms.

Abstract

An electrical power distribution system includes a first lock assembly and a second lock assembly. The first lock assembly includes a first lock rotatable about a first axis and a second lock rotatable about a second axis. The first lock assembly also includes a first connector arranged to prevent rotation of the first lock when a switch device is in a switch device first position and to prevent rotation of the second lock when the switch device is in a switch device second position. The electrical power distribution system further includes a second lock assembly including a third lock rotatable about a third axis and a fourth lock rotatable about a fourth axis. The second lock assembly further includes a second connector coupled to an indicator. The second connector is arranged to prevent rotation of the third lock when a circuit protection device is in a circuit protection device first position and to prevent rotation of the fourth lock when the circuit protection device is in a circuit protection device second position.

Abstract

A power factor correction (PFC) circuit for use with a switched-mode power supply includes a rectifier, a boost PFC converter, a PFC controller, a PFC transistor electrically coupled between the PFC controller and the boost PFC converter, and a frequency control circuit electrically coupled between the rectifier and the PFC controller. The frequency control circuit is operable to control the PFC controller, such that, during operation, the PFC controller provides a driving signal to the PFC transistor based upon a comparison of an output voltage of the rectifier to a threshold voltage. This results in a total off-time of the PFC transistor that increases as an output voltage of the rectifier increases and decreases as the output voltage of said rectifier decreases.
