Abstract

A composite wood panel is manufactured from thin wood laminae cut from wood unsuitable for peeler logs or dimensional lumber. At least one bonding agent is applied to the wood laminae, and they are formed into a randomly oriented mat that is compressed into a thin wood web that can be a corrugated web or a flat web that is permanently set in a single press operation.

Abstract

A hot set adhesive may also be applied to the laminae to improve strength of the composite wood panel. The hot set adhesive is set in a hot press after the cold rolled stock is produced.

Abstract

A multi-stage corrugator for corrugating a thin, flat, pliable cold rolled wood laminae stock to form a half honeycomb corrugated web that includes at least one pre-former stage that bends the stock at spaced intervals to an angle of less than ~60.degree., and a final former stage that further bends the stock at each of the spaced intervals to a final angle of about ~60.degree..
