Abstract
A machining unit having a rotary head bearing at least two pivoting tools, for machining a non-rotating part centred on the axis of rotation of the rotary head. The supports for the pivoting tools (4a-4c) are mounted in said rotary head so as to be able to pivot about respective axes that are parallel to the axis of rotation, each support comprising a transversely arranged control lever (4j-4l). A control bushing (14) is mounted coaxially on the machining unit, the bushing (14) being arranged so as to slide axially and to adopt a first, advanced position or a second, retracted position, the control bushing (14) bearing at one of its ends an ellipsoidal control surface (20) that is arranged so as to cooperate with helical directing surfaces (4d-4f) that are connected to the tools in order to execute a plunging movement of the tools (4a-4c). There is provided a phase-offset device, which is arranged to move said control bushing (14) into two, three or four different predetermined angular positions around its axis.

Abstract
The invention relates to a turning machine (10) of the rotary-chuck type, enabling high-speed turning to be carried out very precisely. This machine comprises a feed block (11) equipped with a first numerical-control actuator (13), for supplying raw material, such as a metal rod, and a control block (12) equipped with a second numerical-control actuator (20) and designed to control the tools for turning and cutting this metal rod. The supply block (11) and the control block (12) are placed so as to be parallel along directions of axes approximately perpendicular to the axis of a chuck (60) that is housed in a frame (80) covered with a cap (81). The metal rod to be machined is conveyed and driven by two drive discs (14, 15) for supplying the turning tools, and in particular the machining/cutting chuck (60), with raw material.
