Described is a grinding element (1) for use in rotary grinding or polishing tools used for grinding or polishing surfaces, and of the type comprising an elongate profile rail (2), including an abrasive cloth (4) and support brushes (5). The abrasive cloth (4) and the support brushes (5) are mounted in or on the profile rail (2), such that the abrasive cloth (4) is supported by the support brushes (15) on its inactive side (15). The abrasive cloth outside the profile rail (2) has a height (9) in the vertical direction (7) and a length (12) in the longitudinal direction (3). The support brushes (5) and the abrasive cloth (4) have different heights, a support brush height (11) and an abrasive cloth height (9), respectively, from the profile rail (2), such that the abrasive cloth (4) is terminated by an outer exposed edge area (19) extending beyond the top of the support brushes (5) and a short distance down along the outer exposed end portions (10) of the support brushes (5). The one coupling part is provided with a receiving groove (5) for an engaging tab (7) placed on the other coupling part. The receiving groove (5) has a first section (10) with an extension parallel to the axis of rotation and the second section (8, 9) of the receiving groove has an extension transverse, preferably perpendicular, to the axis of rotation, so that the tool (1) is driven via the engagement of the bayonet coupling. The bayonet coupling is distinguished in that the second section (8, 9) of the receiving groove has an extension on either side of the first section, so as to form a T-shaped receiving groove, and the bayonet coupling is devised with at least one locking tab (12) with barbs (13) for engaging with a corresponding toothing (11) so that a locking engagement is established upon rotation of the tool by engaging of the locking tabs (12) with the toothing (11). This produces a bayonet coupling which enters into locking engagement regardless of the direction of rotation of the tool, thereby achieving greater safety, since the risk of the tool (1) dropping off during use is minimized.
Bayonet coupling for mounting of a tool (1) on a drive shaft (2) of a machining unit. The drive shaft (2) is connected to the tool (1) via a bayonet coupling, which comprises two coupling parts. A tool (1) with tool elements (4), preferably rotating grinding and/or sanding tool. The tool (1) consists of a tool portion (2) and a mounting portion (3), which secures the tool elements (4) in the tool (1). The tool (1) is distinguished in that the tool portion comprises first mounting means, and the mounting portion comprises second corresponding mounting means for engaging with the first mounting means. The first and second mounting means comprise one or more resilient tabs (10), each of which is provided with at least one barb, and furthermore the mounting means comprise one or more recesses (18). When the tool portion (2) and the mounting portion (3) are assembled, the barbs (15) on the resilient tabs (10) will lock in the recesses (18) of the mounting portion which are designed for this, locking the tool portion (2) and the mounting portion (3) to each other. This produces a design which is easy to assemble. Furthermore, it achieves a tool (1) having a cheap design, suitable for onetime use.
There is disclosed a tool (8) with a rotating processing unit (6, 7, 8) with tool elements (14), preferably an abrading or polishing tool, and with a motor (2) including a drive shaft (3) for driving the processing unit.
