A dental appliance apparatus is disclosed herein. In various aspects, the dental appliance may include a body removably attachable to one or more teeth selected from premolars and molars, and a flange extending forth from lingual portions of the body to contact a tongue at one or more locations proximate the premolars and the molars in order to cause a contraction of the genioglossus that positions the tongue anteriorly and downward toward the mandible by stimulation of the hypoglossal nerve. The dental appliance may include a connector connected to the body. The connector may define an anterior flange to stimulate the hypoglossal nerve proximate a tip of the tongue in order to cause contraction of the genioglossus to position the tongue anteriorly and downward toward the mandible.
Present embodiments related to an oral appliance. More specifically, but without limitation, present embodiments relate to an oral appliance which improves aerobic performance when used during workouts or other athletic endeavors, and additionally while sleeping to improve post-workout recovery.

Provided is a soft flexible oral appliance having protuberances that mimic naturally occurring dental Tori. An upper, palatial appliance and a lower, mandibular appliance may be used in conjunction or separately to alleviate a variety of disorders, improve facial tone, and increase physical performance. The appliances are lightweight, thin, and do not prohibit normal speech patterns when in use. Small protuberances are strategically molded along key surfaces of each appliance to stimulate nerves in the tongue and affect forward protrusion. Forward positioning of the tongue dilates the airways of the throat improving breathing while the use is sleeping, playing sports, or talking. It also reduces bruxing or grinding of the teeth. A method is further provided, for adding protuberances to other types of oral appliances, thereby conferring some of the benefits listed above on appliances originally intended for other dental uses.
A moldable portion for use with protective equipment, guards, braces, or the like for use to protect from injury and facilitate healing of the same are disclosed herein. This moldable portion includes a thermoplastic semi-crystalline propylene ethylene copolymer having a crystallinity of about 2% to about 65% that is between about 85% to about 99% of the moldable portion and a microwave susceptor that is about 1% to about 15% of the moldable portion These moldable portions may be adapted to be positioned adjacent an area of an user's anatomy it is intended to protect, and may be prepared for customization by heating to a temperature of about 60° C. to about 100° C. and shaped and configured to be affixed to a portion of the protective equipment.
