Abstract

An exhaust flue cap and filter device for a gas fired appliance in communication with an exhaust flue opening. The device includes an inner collar to engage the exhaust flue opening. A tubular cap with a closed lower end is in communication with the inner collar. A filter tray is suspended in the tubular cap wherein the filter tray has a smaller diameter than the tubular cap so that a bypass space is formed between the filter tray and the tubular cap to permit passage of exhaust gases. A removable filter insert is receivable in the filter tray. A removable top having a body with exhaust openings is attached to and closes the open upper end of the tubular cap.

Abstract

A multi-purpose chimney cap device for a flue opening. The device includes a tubular housing with an open lower end surrounding the flue opening and an open upper end. A plurality of ventilation openings in the lower portion of the tubular housing draws air into the tubular housing. A plurality of exit openings are provided near the open upper end of the tubular housing. A removable heat deflector is attached to the open upper end of the tubular housing. A removable non-metal weather shield is fastened to the heat deflector to provide an enclosed chamber between the weather shield and the heat deflector. A receiver/transmitter within the enclosed chamber resides between the weather shield and the heat deflector.

Abstract

A cap device (60) for a flue opening of a chimney (62) to enhance draw of smoke and to protect from entry of animals, debris, and the elements, which device comprises: a tubular housing (64) having a plurality of planar sidewalls fabricated from flat sheet metal, a top (70) attached to said tubular housing; a plurality of louver openings (66) in a lower portion of said tubular housing to draw air, a plurality of exit openings (68) in the upper portion of said tubular housing above said louver openings (66), said tubular housing having an imperforated portion between said lower and upper portion; an inner frame and mounting assembly (72) attached to the lower edge of each sidewalls including anchoring and leveling means to anchor said inner frame and mounting assembly to said chimney and to level said device with respect to said chimney; and a liner (76) within said tubular housing to form at least one space between said liner and said tubular housing so that air is drawn through the louver openings (66), up through the said space between the liner (76) and the tubular housing (64) and of the exit openings (68) .
