Abstract

A system and method utilizes a machine readable garment identification tag (12) at a first station (78) to enter information on the specific garment (10) into a computer system (80). The garment data from the garment identification tag (12) is assigned to a garment identifier (44) which is printed or formed on a hanger neck sleeve member. The hanger neck sleeve member (44) provides a consistent scan point through all the subsequent sorting stations (84) in the system (70). This eliminates the need to search for the position of the garment tag (12) to scan in sort stations (84) subsequent to the initial station (78). Each hanger neck sleeve member (44) has a machine readable code (46) that is assigned to the associated garment (10) and is placed on the neck (30) of the hanger (16) for that garment (10). The position of the hanger neck sleeve member (44) on the neck (30) of the hanger (16) makes it readily accessible and readable, significantly more so than the garment tag (12) in these regards.

Abstract

A dispenser for scrubs or other items is modular and can be configured with a desired number of cells for storing scrubs and dispensing them accordingly. The dispenser includes a main or primary bank of cells with each cell housing an inventory of multiple scrubs for dispensing. The main bank of cells may operate in a standalone manner to dispense scrubs, or additional banks can be added to the main bank for increased inventory capacity. The scrubs are stored in a vertical stack in each cell with the uppermost scrub in the cell being the next scrub in that cell to be dispensed. One or more pickers each translate along a gantry to be selectively positioned above one of the cells for picking to pull the uppermost scrub in the cell and elevate it out of the cell. Multiple pickers may operate simultaneously to pick and dispense multiple scrubs at the same time. Each cell includes a platform supporting the vertical stack of scrubs. Once picked, the scrub is moved by the picker along the gantry to a discharge position in the main bank over a discharge delivery chute.

Abstract

A dispenser for rolled paper includes a shell mounted to a spindle assembly which is mounted to a wall for convenient access in a bathroom or other facility. The dispenser also includes a lid assembly mounted to the shell and spindle assembly for rotational or pivotal movement to and between closed and open configurations. When in the closed configuration, a free edge of the paper roll may be pulled from the roll and the roll rotates on the spindle assembly for dispensing the paper. The paper roll may be inspected and/or replaced by rotation of the lid assembly about a pivot pin to an open configuration. Cooperating cam and cam surfaces and the bias of a spring on the pivot pin urge the lid assembly away from the shell during rotation toward the open configuration to allow for proper clearance and positioning of the lid assembly relative to the shell.

Abstract

Dispensers are capable of being used in one orientation for dispensing paper towels upwardly when situated on a countertop and also in a second orientation for dispensing paper towels downwardly when mounted on a wall or other surface. Moreover, the dispensers can be easily modified to present a different finish by installing the desired outer shell components on the dispenser. The dispenser utilizes an inner cartridge adapted to house a stack of interleaved paper towels. The paper towels are urged by a spring toward a dispensing slot situated on a housing surrounding the cartridge. The spring urges the leading paper towel in the stack toward the dispensing slot in either orientation for convenient access to the towel by a user.

Abstract

A dispenser bottle containing liquid may be mounted to a wall by a mounting assembly including a base and a carriage plate. Amounting bracket may be anchored to the wall and the carriage plate is coupled to the mounting bracket and is spring biased toward an extended configuration relative to the mounting bracket. A release pin maintains the carriage plate and base in a retracted configuration. A collar projects from an upper end of the mounting bracket to capture a neck of the bottle. A projection extends upwardly from the base and into a socket on the bottom of the bottle when seated on the base. The combination of the mating socket and projection at the base and the collar around the neck of the bottle inhibits removal of the bottle from the mounting assembly when in the retracted configuration.

Abstract

A scrubs returns cabinet for a hospital allows workers to return surgical garment tops and bottoms. A cabinet housing has a loading door leading to a return port through which the customer places the soiled scrub suit after entering customer identification information. The scrubs fall into a collection area and are dispersed by a diverter into the collection area. Additionally, a compacting paddle compacts the accumulating scrubs to utilize more of the collection area and accommodate more dirty scrubs before the collection area needs to be emptied. The scrubs are compressed by the compactor after being dispersed by the diverter.

Abstract

A trash bin is used in combination with a liner for various purposes, including the collection and disposal of trash. The trash bin has an outer bin, an inner bin, a lid assembly and a liner box mounted on a bottom end of an interior chamber of the trash bin. The liner box houses a roll of liners which can be pulled from a leading end of the roll to position the leading liner of the roll in the trash bin. After the liner is filled with trash, a user may pull the filled liner from the trash bin and by doing so pulls the next liner from the roll in the liner box for subsequent separation from the filled liner and installation in the trash bin for filling with trash.

Abstract

A permeable mat (10) provides a two-state mat; one in which the mat (10) has an impervious layer (12) when laid flat during use, so water gets captured by an upper fabric layer (14). And a second state in which the mat (10) becomes permeable when it is rolled and tumbled in the washer and drier, to allow the through-flow of air and water to effectively clean and dry the mat (10). A pattern of permeable elements (22) may be included as part of the rubber backing (12) to improve washing and drying by allowing easier passage through the mat (10) by water and washing chemicals, allowing water drainage through the rubber layer (12) during spinning cycle, reducing the need for very high spinning forces and speeds, allowing for air flow through the mat layers (12, 14), improving drying time and efficiencies and lowering the structure of the mat unit, thereby allowing for better unrolling and tumbling during washing cycles.

Abstract

An adhesive assembly can be used to join textile materials together creating a durable wash resistant. An emblem can be removed from a work shirt without leaving glue stains or residue. The shirt may be reused if emblems need to be removed or changed before the life of the garment expires. In various embodiments, a layer of mesh is incorporated into the heat activated glue on the back of the emblem. This mesh does not affect adherence to the garment. The emblem sticks just as well as without the mesh layer and with zero process changes to how the emblem is applied. The mesh allows for the complete removal of the adhesive from the garment when the patch is removed allowing the garment to be used even after the patch is removed.

Abstract

A method for making a slip resistant mat can include assembling parts with predetermined geometries to form a mold that can be used for making slip resistant mats that have channels to account for moisture between the mat and the floor. The unique geometries of the parts which form the mold can be manufactured efficiently and with reduced costs. The mold of this invention can be used to make slip resistant mats with channels that can both dissipate water and offer a high degree of mat to floor surface contact.

Abstract

A process for laundering, sorting and delivering garments is enhanced by incorporating a Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tag into each garment. An RFID reader antenna includes left and right interleaved parallel and vertically aligned pluralities of generally orthogonal ferrite horseshoes to shape the sensing magnetic fields. The span of coverage along with the non-aligned magnetic fields ensure that RFID tag is read even regardless of orientation. Accurate detection facilitates tracking of garments during laundering, repair, replacement, sorting, etc.
