Abstract

A method of aligning the optical axes of two cameras, wherein the cameras are parts of a camera apparatus and the two cameras can be used for producing 3D films, wherein plural steps are automatically run through. The invention also relates to a method of controlling a camera rig comprising two cameras for producing 3D films according to the table of values according to such method, wherein during shooting upon zooming at least one camera is automatically moved via camera motors. The invention also relates to a camera rig comprising two cameras that are preferably juxtaposed or superimposed having a control which realizes a method as explained.

Abstract

There is disclosed a stereographic camera system and a method of operating a stereographic camera system. The stereoscopic camera system may include a left camera and a right camera having respective left and right lenses and an IOD mechanism to set an interocular distance between the left and right cameras. A foreground distance sensor may provide an output indicative of a distance to a closest foreground object. A controller may causes the IOD mechanism to set the interocular distance based on, in part, the output of the foreground distance sensor.

Abstract

There is disclosed a single seat-kill camera system and method. The single seat-kill camera may include a camera head and an elevator configured to position the camera head in one of a down position and an up position. An obstruction detector may determine whether or not a field of view of the camera head is obstructed, at least in part, when the camera head is in the down position. A controller coupled to the elevator and the obstruction detector may automatically instruct the elevator to position the camera head in the up position when the obstruction detector determines that the field of view of the camera head in the down position is obstructed.

Abstract

There is disclosed a stereographic camera system and method. A stereographic camera may include a left camera and a right camera including respective lenses and an interface for receiving a selection of a selected mode from a plurality of preset operating modes. One or more preset stereo parameters associated with each of the plurality of operating modes may be stored in a preset parameter memory. An interocular distance mechanism may set an interocular distance between the left camera and the right camera based on, at least in part, the one or more preset stereo parameters associated with the selected mode.

Abstract

There is disclosed a stereographic camera system, a computing device and a method of operating a stereographic camera system. The stereoscopic camera system may a left camera and a right camera and an obstruction detector to determine whether or not a field of view of one of the left camera and the right camera is at least partially obstructed. A controller may cause the camera system to automatically output only non-obstructed image data, in response to a determination by the obstruction detector that a field of view of one of the left camera and the right camera is at least partially obstructed.

Abstract

An integrated 2D/3D camera system may include a 2D camera and a 3D camera affixed to the 2D camera. The 2D camera may include a first lens that is lens adjustable to set a 2D focus distance. The 3D camera may include a left camera and a right camera including respective left and right lenses, the left and right lenses synchronously adjustable to set a 3D focus distance. A focus mechanism may automatically set the 2D focus distance and the 3D focus distance to be essentially equal by one of adjusting the first lens based on the 3D focus distance and synchronously adjusting the left and right lenses based on the 2D focus distance.

Abstract

There is disclosed stereographic camera system including a left and a right camera including respective lenses, plural mechanisms to synchronously set a focal length of the lenses, to synchronously set a focal distance of the lenses, to set a convergence angle between the left and right cameras, and to set an intraocular distance between the left and right cameras. A controller may determine a convergence based on the focal length. The controller may cause an interocular distance and a convergence angle between the left and right cameras to be set based on a maximum allowable disparity, the focal length of the lenses, the convergence distance, and a distance to an object in the scene.
