The multi-layered device can be formed as a disposable test strip. The substrate layer (305) is linked to at least one suspended vibrating element (101) located within the chamber; the suspended element (101) is linked to the substrate layer by at least two compliant structures (102) located within the chamber; and the suspended element (101) is configured to oscillate upon application of an actuating current to at least one electrically conductive path (103), which runs across at least two of the compliant structures (102) and the suspended element (101), resulting in magnetic actuation when a permanent magnet is positioned in the vicinity of the suspended element.
