Abstract

Retaining devices securable on firearms are selectively operable to engage and retain a bolt assembly in a substantially-fixed position for an indeterminate period of time. The retaining devices include a mounting plate securable to the receiver and a retention pin that extends through a passage in the mounting plate. The retention pin extends axially between first and second ends that project outwardly beyond the mounting plate. The retention pin is supported on the mounting plate for axial displacement between a first pin position and a second pin position. In the first pin position, the second end of the retention pin engages and retains the bolt assembly in a substantially-fixed position relative to the receiver. In the second pin position, the second end of the retention pin is disengaged from the bolt assembly.

Abstract

A firearm buffer includes a buffer casing having a casing chamber with open and closed ends, and buffer weight within the casing chamber. A buffer plug is received in the open end of the buffer casing. A cross pin extends through at least a portion of the buffer plug retaining the buffer plug on the buffer casing. A locking pin is longitudinally displaceable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the locking pin is engaged with the cross pin and retains the cross pin in position with respect to the buffer plug. In the second position, the locking pin is disengaged from the cross pin such that the cross pin is removable from engagement with the buffer plug thereby permitting disassembly of the firearm buffer. A method of assembling a firearm buffer is also included.

Abstract

A combination for a firearm which creates an improved firearm. An upper chassis is created which is formed from a first housing and a second housing which, once independently formed, are permanently secured to each other. The upper chassis provides a first opening through which a spent cartridge is discharged and a second opening which permits a variety of attachments to be selectively attached to the upper chassis to customize the firearm to the user and activity.

Abstract

A charging handle for a firearm which has a handle portion connected to a pull rod member. A bore hole collects exhaust gases passing over the top of the rod member and directs the gases to vent tunnel(s) which extend perpendicular to the rod member. In the preferred embodiment, a deflecting surface is used to further direct the exhaust gases to the bore hole. Further embodiments provide seals to protect the user from any exhaust gas which has not been vented.

Abstract

The invention is a throw lever assembly used to affix an accessory to a firearm. The throw lever assembly utilizes a base unit having a cam bed in which rests the cam. An anchor clamp secured to one end of an engagement rod with the other end affixed to the cam. The cam has an arm extending from it which is used connected to a handle portion. The handle portion is selectively locked/unlocked to the cam via an upper surface the arm. When locked to the arm, the handle portion is able to move the cam causing the assembly to be either locked or unlocked from the firearm.

Abstract

A throw lever assembly used to secure an accessory such as a sight or a flashlight to a firearm. The throw lever assembly includes a base unit having a cam bed wherein the cam resides. An engagement rod, connected to the cam, extends through the base unit to an anchor clamp used to clamp the entire assembly to a firearm. A handle portion is manually locked to the cam so that when locked to the cam mechanism, the lever allows the operator to manually rotate the cam to force movement of the engagement rod to tighten or release the assembly from the firearm. In one embodiment, the handle portion is secured to an arm extending from the cam.

Abstract

A clamp used to attach a flashlight to a firearm having a rail thereon. In the preferred embodiment, the clamp utilizes a sleeve configured to accept a handle of the flashlight. The sleeve has at least one tooth configured to engage the rail on the firearm. A wedge is movably secured to the sleeve such that a simultaneous action by the operator both forces the wedge up a ramp on an interior aspect of the clamp and secures the clamp by compressing the rail between a bracket (which engages both the clamp and the rail) and the tooth on the sleeve.

Abstract

A charging handle for a firearm which can be used by either a right-handed or a left handed operator. The charging handle uses a rod member which engages the action of the firearm and is secured to the action via a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is release when the handle is pulled by either the left hand or the right hand of the operator by pressing a first pressure surface when the left hand is used, and by pressing a second pressure surface when the right hand is used by the operator. This pressure forces the locking mechanism to disengage from the action mechanism.

Abstract

A firearm action assembly having an action mechanism with an improved charging handle. The charging handle uses a rod member to engage the action for “cocking” the action mechanism. At an open end of the rod member is a handle which is secured to the edge of the action in a dormant state. Releasing of the lock is through the use of either of two finger members which are swivelly secured to each other. Pulling on either of these finger members operates the other which moves the other finger member.
