Abstract

A pipe liner (1) comprises a seal (2) which is arranged to move from a relaxed configuration, in which at least part of the seal (2) has a smaller inner diameter, to an expanded configuration having a larger inner diameter. The seal (2) transitions from the relaxed configuration to the expanded configuration as the pipe liner (1) is pushed over a spigot (18). Consequently, the pipe liner (1) can be introduced into a pipe (5) in the relaxed configuration, with a smaller internal (and external) diameter and thereby ease introduction into the pipe (5). Then, when pushed over the spigot (18), the increase in internal diameter can force the external surface of the seal (2) against the internal surface of the pipe (5), sandwiching the seal (2) in a compressed (sealing) condition between the spigot (18) and the pipe (5). This allows metal pipes (5) to be connected to plastic pipes (14) using standard connectors (7) intended for plastic pipes (14).

Abstract

A pipe coupling (10) for multilayer pipes comprises a body adapted for insertion into a pipe. The body has a through passage extending inwardly from at least two mouths (11, 12) and on its outer surface a groove (22, 23) for receiving a sealing element (24, 25) for forming a fluid-tight seal between an internal surface of the multilayer pipe and the body. Inwardly of the groove, the cross sectional area of the through passage gradually increases. This reduces the pressure drop through the pipe coupling. The pipe coupling may be formed from two separate parts each injection moulded around tapering cores then attached together.

The present disclosure is directed to a sprinkler assembly that includes a sprinkler head and a fitting. The fitting has a recess in a distal end for receiving a pipe end. The fitting also has a sealing ring in the recess to provide a fluid-tight seal between the sprinkler head and the pipe end upon installation of the pipe. In one embodiment, the pipe is installed by pushing the pipe end into the fitting (i.e., pushing actuates the fitting). In another embodiment, the pipe is installed by inserting the pipe end into the fitting and using a tool to press-actuate the fitting. During installation, a sharp-edged grip-ring or grab-ring in the recess of the fitting, which in some embodiments has a plurality of teeth, engages the outer surface of the pipe end, holding the pipe securely in place.
