Abstract

The invention concerns a method for obtaining an extract enriched in rosmarinic acid from fresh plant matter chosen from the aerial parts, flowering heads, flowers and/or fresh leaves of plants from the family of Lamiaceae, Araliaceae, Boraginaceae, Apiaceae, Poaceae and Malvaceae. The invention is characterised in that the method comprises the successive steps of: 1) blanching said plant matter in steam; 2) continuously pressing the plant matter blanched in 1) with at least one compression screw, at a pressure between 4 and 10 bar, and recovering the juice (liquid co-product); 3) filtering the juice recovered in 2) and recovering a clarified juice; and 4) atomising the juice clarified in 3), in order to obtain a granulated or fine powder extract containing at least 5% by weight of rosmarinic acid relative to the total weight of the extract. The invention also concerns the extract obtained in this way and the compositions comprising such an extract. The compositions according to the invention are used in the food, cosmetic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical fields.

Abstract

The invention relates to the use of an evodone derivative as an active agent intended for repelling insects, in particular mosquitoes and, more particularly, mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus and Culex pipiens. The invention is characterized in that the evodone derivative is of general formula (I): in which R1 and R2 are identical or different, and are -H or a linear alkyl group having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and X is =O or -OAc, with the exclusion of evodone (with R1 or R2 = -H, R1 or R2 = -CH3, R1 being different from R2, and X = =O). The invention also relates to novel evodone derivatives of general formula (I) in which R1 and R2 are identical and are -H, and X is -OAc; R1 and R2 are different and R1 or R2 is -H, R1 or R2 is -CH2CH3, and X is =O or -OAc; R1 and R2 are different and R1 or R2 is -H, R1 or R2 is -(CH2)2CH3, and X is =O or -OAc; and R1 and R2 are identical and are -CH3, and X is -OAc, and also to a process for the synthesis of evodyl acetate without methyl (with R1=R2= -H and X = -OAc), to a composition comprising an effective amount of a novel evodone derivative, and to the use of such a composition for repelling insects, in particular mosquitoes and, more particularly, mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus and Culex pipiens.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing lactones from a strain of Aureobasidium pullulans. The invention is characterized in that the method includes the following steps, according to which: a preculture of the Aureobasidium pullulans CBS 771.97 (obtained from the CBS-KNAW Fungal Biodiversity Centre, Uppsalalaan 8, 3584 CT Utrecht, Netherlands) or the related strains thereof; a culture is created, from an inoculum from the preculture, by fermenting, at a temperature of 20°C to 40°C for a period of at 3 days, such as to produce metabolites, in a sterilized aqueous production medium containing, at a concentration of 2 to 100 mM, a carbon source, a nitrogen source, a mineral salt solution, and a calcium source; and at the end of the fermentation period, the metabolites produced are converted into a lactone mixture containing (R)-5,6-dihydro-6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (or (R)-(-)-massoia lactone) and/or (4R,6R)-4-hydroxy-6-pentyl-tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-one.

Abstract

Methods for extracting an extract of volatile odorous compounds from an organic raw material containing odorous compounds is disclosed. The method includes contacting an organic raw material with dimethyl carbonate, as a solvent, in at least one bath at a temperature of 10° C. to 70° C. A liquid organic phase is obtained that includes the dimethyl carbonate charged with volatile odorous compounds and is collected. If the liquid organic phase comprises an immiscible aqueous phase, decanting occurs to separate the dimethyl carbonate charged with odorous compounds therefrom thereby eliminating the aqueous phase. Next, partially eliminating by evaporation forms a pre-concentrated extract of volatile odorous compounds, which is recovered and if water is present, decanting occurs to eliminate the water. Additionally, concentrating the pre-concentrated extract of volatile odorous compounds by evaporation is performed to obtain the extract of volatile odorous compounds.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for extracting an extract of volatile odorous compounds from an organic raw material containing odorous compounds including the steps according to which: a) said organic raw material is placed in contact, in at least one bath at a temperature of 10 ºC to 70 ºC, with dimethyl carbonate used as a solvent in said bath in order to charge said dimethyl carbonate solvent with volatile odorous compounds from said organic material and to obtain a liquid organic phase; b) the liquid organic phase is collected from said bath; c) in the event that the collected liquid organic phase comprises an aqueous phase that is immiscible with the dimethyl carbonate resulting from the organic material, the liquid organic phase is decanted such as to separate the dimethyl carbonate charged with odorous compounds from said immiscible aqueous phase and the aqueous phase is eliminated; d) the dimethyl carbonate is partially eliminated by evaporation and a pre-concentrated extract of volatile odorous compounds is recovered; e) in the event that, after partially eliminating the dimethyl carbonate by evaporation, the pre-concentrated extract of volatile odorous compounds includes water, the pre-concentrated extract is decanted such as to eliminate the water; and f) the pre-concentrated extract of volatile odorous compounds is concentrated by evaporation in order to obtain the extract of volatile odorous compounds. The invention also relates to an extract of volatile odorous compounds prepared by the method according to the invention and to the uses thereof as a perfume, perfumery ingredient, food flavouring or even in the composition of a cosmetic product.
