Abstract

In one example, a system includes an airbag inflating system, a control system operably coupled to the airbag inflating system, and a pair of pants and/or other lower-body garments that include one or more airbags configured to be removably coupled to the airbag inflating system. The airbag inflating system can be operated manually by the user, and/or automatically based on input from one or more sensors. The airbags may be inflated by a compressed gas, or by a flow of air from a mechanism such as a fan.

Abstract

A wearable emergency alert apparatus, which includes a processor, obtains data from a portion of the plurality of sensors. The apparatus determines that an emergency condition has occurred, based on either comparing the data to one or more pre-defined thresholds and determining that the data indicates an emergency condition or receiving specific input via the user input device. Based on the determining the emergency condition has occurred, the apparatus obtains location information from the location device and transmits a notification that includes the location information, via a network connection, by utilizing the communication device.

Abstract

A wearable emergency alert apparatus includes a communication device configured to communicate an alert to a node on a network external to the emergency alert apparatus, a shock sensor in communication with the communication device, where the sensor is pre-configured to send a message to the communication device based on experiencing pressure from a source external to the emergency alert apparatus exceeding a pre-determined threshold, and where the device is configured to communicate the alert based on receiving the message. The apparatus also includes a microcontroller communicatively coupled to one or more of: the communication device, or the shock sensor and a heat sensor communicatively coupled to the microcontroller. Based on the heat sensor obtaining a heat value exceeding a given threshold, the microcontroller activates one or more of: the communication device, or the shock sensor. The present disclosure provides danger avoidance apparatuses and related methods, such as for use to avoid avalanches. An apparatus may include a container configured to couple to a user, a lift providing mechanism, a descent control mechanism and at least one rip cord engaged with the container and selectively operable by the user. Both the lift providing mechanism and the descent control mechanism may be movably coupled to the container between a packed position within the container and a deployed position exterior to the container controlled via the at least one rip cord. The lift providing mechanism may include an airfoil that provides lift to the user at a first velocity of the user along a first direction. The descent control mechanism may control the descent and reduce the velocity of the user along the first direction from the first velocity in the deployed position.

Abstract

A container for the storage of goods within a cavity of the container. The container includes retrieval means configured to be detachably coupled with an attachment mechanism in the cavity of the container. A rim and opening of the cavity of the container is angled with respect to a horizontal plane. The container may include a lid for engaging with the rim and/or side walls of the container to substantially close or seal off the opening and, thereby, the cavity. The lid may be configured to form a substantially horizontal top surface, or a top surface that is angled with respect a horizontal plane when it is engaged with the rim of the container. The lid may include a lip or side wall that allows two containers with angled top surfaces to be securely stacked on each other on the top surfaces.
