Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a means which makes it possible to sufficiently suppress the propagation of algae and the like even in a submerged part, in which algae and the like can propagate easily due to factors including a factor that the part tends to be exposed to sunlight, in a substrate having an antifouling coating film formed thereon, and which can be performed at low cost. An antifouling coating composition for underwater according to the present invention comprises a hydrolyzable polymer (A) containing a metal ester group and zinc oxide (B) having a specific surface area of 5 to 20 m2/g. The content of the zinc oxide (B) is, for example, 50 to 150% by mass per 100% by mass of the solid content in the hydrolyzable polymer (A). The antifouling coating composition for underwater may additionally contain an antifouling agent (C) and a monocarboxylic acid compound (E) and/or a metal ester thereof. An antifouling coating film formed from the antifouling coating composition for underwater has such a property that the ratio of the consumption degree of the coating film in a bright place that is exposed to sunlight to that in a dark place that is not exposed to sunlight is large, and has excellent static antifouling properties and dynamic antifouling properties even in the bright place.

Abstract

This three-dimensional surface roughness evaluating device is provided with a two-dimensional laser displacement meter, a movement mechanism which causes the two-dimensional laser displacement meter to move in the X-axis direction, a movement distance reading device which reads the movement distance of the two-dimensional laser displacement meter in the X-axis direction, and a calculating device which creates three-dimensional surface roughness data of a measured object on the basis of displacement data acquired by the two-dimensional laser displacement meter and movement distance data acquired by the movement distance reading device. The two-dimensional laser displacement meter is disposed in such a way that the width direction of the two-dimensional laser displacement meter coincides with the Y-axis direction, to make it possible to read Y-axis direction coordinate displacement data at fixed intervals. The measuring width of the two-dimensional laser displacement meter is at least twice a mean length RSm of elements of the measured object. The calculating device is configured to create reference surface data of each coordinate by averaging in the Y-axis direction the displacement data acquired at fixed intervals in the X-axis direction by the two-dimensional laser displacement meter, and to create three-dimensional surface roughness data of the measured object by subtracting the reference surface data of each coordinate from the displacement data of each coordinate in the X-Y plane.

Abstract

The invention provides a method which predicts a ratio of the increase in frictional resistance of a rough surface in a simple manner, quickly and without variations in predicted results among individuals. The method for predicting the frictional resistance of a rough surface having a variation in roughness wavelength, and being in contact with a fluid flowing at varied velocities includes evaluating the total projected area of all prominent peaks standing out above the viscous sublayer thickness per unit area, and calculating the friction increase ratio FIR (%) or the frictional resistance increase Δτ.

Abstract

[Problem] To provide a method for predicting the frictional resistance increase rate of a rough surface, with which evaluation results are obtained easily and quickly, and without individual differences. [Solution] This method for predicting the frictional resistance of a rough surface is characterized in that a rough surface having different roughness wavelengths upon contact with fluids at different flow velocities is evaluated with regard to total exposed roughness projected area A (hereinafter termed "exposed roughness projected area A") per unit of exposed area from the viscous sublayer thickness, and a frictional resistance increase rate FIR (%) is calculated from the following equation (1), or a frictional resistance increase Δτ is calculated from the following equation (2). FIR (%) = C × A (1) (in equation (1), the coefficient C is a constant that is dependent on the exposed roughness projected area A, and is derived by carrying out in advance frictional resistance tests on a plurality of rough surfaces having different roughness while varying the flow velocity V, and measuring the frictional resistance increase rate FIR (%). The frictional resistance increase rate FIR (%) is the percentage obtained by dividing the difference τr - τ0 between the frictional resistance τr of a rough surface and the frictional resistance τ0 of a smooth surface, by τ0. In equation (2), the coefficient Cr is a constant dependent on the fluid density ρ, the exposed roughness projected area A, and the flow velocity V, and is calculated from the relationship of equation (2), by carrying out in advance frictional resistance tests on a plurality of rough surfaces having different roughness while varying the flow velocity V, and measuring the frictional resistance increase Δτ. The frictional resistance increase Δτ is the difference τr - τ0 between the frictional resistance τr of a rough surface and the frictional resistance τ0 of a smooth surface.)
