Abstract
A polyurethane composition characterized by containing a polyurethane, a phenolic antioxidant, a hindered amine light stabilizer (excluding polyester compound) and a polyester compound (excluding polyurethane). Preferably, a benzotriazole light stabilizer is further contained therein. The polyurethane composition is highly resistant to yellowing deterioration and other quality deterioration attributed to heat and light, such as sunlight, and nitrogen oxides, such as oxidized nitrogen gas. Accordingly, this polyurethane composition finds application in fibers, films, foams, paints and adhesives, in particular, glass substitutes, surface coating materials for pane, etc., interior/exterior materials and interior/exterior paints for building and transportation equipment, members for light source, electromagnetic wave shielding members, containers and packing materials for chemical, etc., film materials for agricultural sheet, etc., antifading agents for print, etc., apparel fiber products and fibers, household interior items, contact lens and other medical instruments, optical supplies, stationery, sign boards and surface coating materials therefor, etc.

Abstract
The present invention is directed to a product, obtainable by reacting a SiOy flake, or a material comprising a SiOy layer with 0.70 ≤ y ≤ 1.95, especially 0.70 ≤ y ≤1.80, very especially 1.0 ≤ y ≤ 1.8 with a protic substance, such as water, or a protic organic solvent to generate Si-H, Si-H2 and/or a-Si:H groups and reacting the obtained intermediate with a compound having functional groups that can react with Si-H, Si-H2 and/or a-Si:H groups and a process for their production. By using the Si-H group as anchor on the surface for organic compounds hazardous reducing agents like lithium aluminum hydride, borane or hydrogen can be avoided for reductive grafting methods. Organic and inorganic compounds, such as, for example, colorants, or additives, such as, for example, UV absorbers, or photoinitiators, or polymers can immobilized. The modified flakes can be used in coatings, plastics, fibres etc.

Abstract
The invention relates to a biocatalytic method or process for the synthesis of esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid free of positively chargeable/charged groups, comprising reacting one or more alcohols (alcohol starting materials) which are free of positively chargeable or charged groups with (meth)acrylyl-CoA, preferably in the presence of a catalyst (inorganic, organic or organometallic, or preferably a biocatalyst) capable of effecting the transfer of an alcohol radical from an alcohol starting material as defined above or below to (meth)acrylyl CoA under removal of the CoA moiety transferase activity, such as an enzyme of the transferase or hydrolase class of enzymes. The (meth)acrylyl-CoA is preferably formed by reaction of (meth)acrylic acid or its salts with coenzyme A in the presence of an energy providing substance and a biocatalyst e.g. with S-acetyl coenzyme A synthetase activity or by reaction of acrylate or methacrylate produced metabolically in the presence of a biocatalyst or metabolically.

The present polymers and coatings exhibit good weatherability, scratch resistance, good processability, good mechanical strength, good gloss retention and are non-sticky. The carboxylic acid reagent functionalized olefin polymer is for example maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene or polyethylene, or is a reaction product of maleic anhydride and an alpha-olefin, or is a tallow alcohol ester of said maleic anhydride products. The fatty acid amide is for example oleyl palmitamide or stearyl erucamide.

Abstract
Polyolefin substrates, for example polypropylene, polyethylene or thermoplastic olefin molded parts, are made scratch resistant and heat and light stable by the incorporation therein of an additive combination of b) a carboxylic acid reagent functionalized olefin polymer or copolymer, c) a primary or secondary fatty acid amide and d) a combination of a low molecular weight and a high molecular weight hindered amine light stabilizer. The present polyolefins exhibit good weatherability, scratch resistance, good processability, good mechanical strength, good gloss retention and are non-sticky.

Abstract
The invention pertains to a method of producing comb block copolymers from epoxy- functionalized nitroxylethers and further monomers by anionic polymerization followed by nitroxyl mediated controlled free radical polymerization. The block copolymer backbone has defined initiating points where radical grafting of ethylenically unsaturated monomers can take place. Further aspects of the invention are comb block copolymers obtained by this process and the use of such polymers for plastic applications.
