Abstract

The present invention relates to a catalyst for steam reforming processes, especially for the low-temperature water gas shift reaction step of steam reforming processes. The catalyst is constituted of copper, zinc and aluminium oxides, and has a sodium content from 200 ppm to 1200 ppm. The use of these catalysts in the LTS step reduces the formation of byproducts, in particular methanol, while retaining high activity and stability of the conversion reaction of carbon monoxide with steam.
