The aerosol-forming substrate comprises a solid material which is capable of releasing volatile compounds that can form an aerosol upon heating of the aerosol-forming substrate and at least a first susceptor material for heating the aerosol-forming substrate. The at least first susceptor material is arranged in thermal proximity of the solid material. The aerosol-forming substrate further comprises at least a second susceptor material which has a second Curie-temperature which is lower than a first Curie-temperature of the first susceptor material. The second Curie-temperature of the second susceptor material corresponds to a predefined maximum heating temperature of the first susceptor material. An inhaler system including the inhaler article and an inhaler article holder is also provided.
An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: an aerosol-forming substrate in an aerosol-forming substrate portion; and a substrate wrapper at least partly circumscribing the aerosol-forming substrate portion, the substrate wrapper having a thickness of 50 micrometers or more, the substrate wrapper including one or more layers having a same length in a longitudinal direction of the aerosol-generating article, and a total density of the aerosol-forming substrate portion being more than 0.71 milligram per cubic millimeter. An aerosol-generating system including the aerosol-generating article and an aerosol-generating device is also provided.

A method of controlling aerosol production in an aerosol-generating device is provided, the aerosol-generating device including a power source configured to provide power to a heating element to heat an aerosol-forming substrate including an aerosol former, the method including the steps of controlling the power provided to the heating element such that in a first phase, immediately after activating the aerosol-generating device, power is provided to the heating element such that a temperature of the heating element increases from an initial temperature to a first temperature, in a second phase power is provided such that the temperature of the heating element decreases to a second temperature lower than the first temperature but does not decrease below a volatilization temperature of the aerosol former, and in a third phase power is provided such that the temperature of the heating element increases to a third temperature greater than the second temperature.

The aerosol- generating device further comprises an ejection mechanism. The ejection mechanism is configured arrangeable in a closed position and in an open position. The ejection mechanism is configured for ejecting the planar aerosol-generating article out of the cavity in the open position. The ejection mechanism comprises an air inlet allowing ambient air to be drawn into the ejection mechanism when the ejection mechanism is in the closed position. The ejection mechanism comprises an air outlet that is fluidly connected with the air inlet. The air outlet is further fluidly connected with the cavity to allow ambient air to be drawn through the ejection mechanism and into the cavity in the closed position of the ejection mechanism. The invention further relates to an aerosol-generating system comprising the aerosol-generating device and a planar aerosol-generating article comprising aerosol-forming substrate.
