Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for constructing a multi-resolution image from a set of compressive measurements representing a compressed version of a single native resolution image. In one aspect, compressive sense measurements are retrieved that were generated using a compressive sensing matrix and represent a compressed version of a single native resolution image of a scene. Dimensions of a desired two-dimensional, multi-resolution image are determined, and a plurality of regions is allocated, each allocated region having a respective resolution. An expansion matrix is defined to map the resolution of each allocated region to the native resolution, and a multi-resolution image of the scene is constructed using the compressive sense measurements, the compressive sensing matrix, and the defined expansion matrices. In various aspects, a full resolution or other multi-resolution images may be constructed from the same compressive measurements without regenerating new compressive measurements.

Abstract

Point cloud data is received and a ground plane is segmented. A two-dimensional image of the segmented ground plane is generated based on intensity values of the segmented ground plane. Lane marking candidates are determined based on intensity within the generated two-dimensional image. Image data is received and the generated two-dimensional image is registered with the received image data. Lane marking candidates of the received image data are determined based on the lane marking candidates of the registered two-dimensional image. Image patches are selected from the two-dimensional image and from the received image data based on the determined lane markings. Feature maps including selected image patches from the registered two-dimensional image and received data are generated. The set of feature maps are sub-sampled, and a feature vector is generated based on the set of feature maps. Lane markings are determined from the generated feature vector.

Abstract

A server system 500 is provided for receiving video clips having an associated audio/musical track for processing at the server system. The system comprises a first beat tracking module for generating a first beat time sequence from the audio signal using an estimation of the signal's tempo and chroma accent information. A ceiling and floor function is applied to the tempo estimation to provide integer versions which are subsequently applied separately to a further accent signal derived from a lower-frequency sub-band of the audio signal to generate second and third beat time sequences. A selection module then compares each of the beat time sequences with the further accent signal to identify a best match.

Abstract

To effectively plan small cell placement within a current macro cell network, it is necessary to identify the traffic hotspots. Small cells can be placed in hotspot locations in order to effectively offload traffic from the corresponding macro cell. Hotspots can be identified based on information about traffic from/to mobile users, particularly, the observed User Equipment (UE) locations and amount of data transmitted from/to the UEs. Provided are systems and methods for accounting for geo-location errors in identifying hotspots and determining small cell placement.

Abstract

The invention relates to determining a context of a system so that the system can be controlled or the context information be used in the system. The context of a system is described with tags or words that characterize e.g. the state of the system, the surroundings of the system and the state of the user. These tags are determined at multiple time instances. The tags are collected over a first time span and a second time span, and the two (or more) sets of tags are used to determine the context of the system. If the determination using the two sets gives a different result, that is, there is a large distance between the two derived contexts, it is determined that a change in context has occurred. Detecting the change in context can be used to control the system, e.g. by changing the applications presented to the user on the user interface, or by changing the state and/or priority of applications.

Abstract

In a system having an interface that utilizes an electroencephalogram, there is realized a calibration which prevents overlooking of calibrational stimulations concerning the electroencephalogram and which is highly accurate. An electroencephalogram interface system (1) includes an interface section (100) which acquires an electroencephalogram signal from a user, distinguishes a P3 component of a visual event-related potential contained in the electroencephalogram signal after a manipulation menu is presented, and operates a device based on the distinguished P3 component. An electroencephalogram distinction method adjustment apparatus (10) is used for adjusting a distinction method in the interface section (100). Based on a database (13) defining a correlation between a P3 component of an event-related potential obtained from a stimulation to a modality other than the visual sense and a P3 component of a visual event-related potential and on a P3 component of an event-related potential after a stimulation is presented, the apparatus (10) derives a characteristic quantity of the user concerning the P3 component of the visual event-related potential, and adjusts the electroencephalogram distinction method in the interface section (100) based on the characteristic quantity.

Abstract

A web-based image detection system includes: an image capture device, a web browser, a plug-in, and a recognition server. A captured image is processed by the plug-in to assess whether a pre-determined content type is contained with in the image. Once an initial analysis at the browser plug-in detects a pre-determined content type in an image, the image is transmitted to a recognition server for content recognition of the image by content type. The system thus enables users to link documents or other image types to electronic data using only a capture device and a web browser.

Abstract

Aspects of the invention provide methods, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for spatially manipulating sound that is played back to a listener over a set of output transducers, e.g., headphones. The listener can direct spatial attention to focus on a portion of an audio scene, analogous to a magnifying glass being used to pick out details in a picture. An input multi-channel audio signal that is generated by audio sources is obtained, and directional information is determined for each of the audio sources. The user provides a desired direction of spatial attention so that audio processing can focus on the desired direction and render a corresponding multi-channel audio signal to the user. A region of an audio scene is expanded around the desired direction while the audio scene is compressed in another portion of the audio scene.

A user's device may automatically keep track of one or more comments and discussions surrounding a particular media object by, for example, storing information associated with those comments and discussions in a data source either internal to or external from the electronic device, such that the stored information is somehow linked to the corresponding media object. When the user attempts to transmit the media object (e.g., upload the media object to an online sharing server, transmit the media object to a friend, or the like), the user's device may automatically gather the stored information associated with that media object and then transmit that information along with the media object.

Abstract

The load on access points (APs) in wireless, local area networks (WLANs) is minimized using a number of methods and associated devices. One method minimizes the load of the most congested APs while a second balances the load on both congested and uncongested APs using an optimal min-max (priority) load balanced solution. The optimal solution is obtained without requiring complex modifications, among other things. Both methods include adjustments to the transmission power levels of AP beacon messages to reduce congestion, but do not require adjustments to the transmission power levels of AP data traffic channels.

Abstract

The present invention provides methods, apparatuses, and systems for delivering protected multi-media content to a receiving device. Protected multi-media content and key information are inserted in a same time slice burst. A receiving device receives the time slice burst with the content datagrams and the key information and decrypts the content datagrams with the key information. Key datagrams may be associated with a higher priority level than content datagrams. Consequently, a receiving device can process a key datagram in order to extract a key before routing associated content datagrams to a message stack. A key may be encrypted at one or two levels of encryption. Additionally, a new security plug-in software module may be deployed at a receiving device. The new security plug-in software module is configured as an installation package that is encrypted as a protected message and that is decrypted by the receiving device.

Abstract

A distributed authentication framework is presented. The framework includes an authentication stack that is created by an authentication server. The server receives an authentication request from an end-user, the request including an authentication domain ID that distinguishes the end-user. The authentication stack has entries that trigger local or remote specific authentication actions providing respective results. When the results are consolidated the authentication status of the end-user is determined.

Abstract

Techniques for computing error-bounded position and orientation (pose) of a panoramic camera in real-world environments. Such environments may include large interior spaces (e.g., buildings) A space may include multiple rooms. For example, a technique for capturing images associated with an environment includes the following steps/operations. First, respective placements of fiducials in the environment are determined so as to satisfy at least one constraint. Images are captured, with an image capture device (e.g., camera), associated with the environment with the fiducials placed therein. A pose estimation of the image capture device is then determined based on projections of the fiducials in the captured images. The pose estimation may be optimized so as to obtain an optimal pose per image. Also, the fiducial placements may be optimized so as to obtain optimal fiducial placements. Then at least one constraint may include a constraint associated with the number of visible fiducials, a constraint associated with a distance from a viewpoint to a fiducial, and/or a constraint associated with an angle subtended by pairs of fiducials.

Abstract

Methods and apparatus for mitigating denial of service attacks in a communications network are described. Frequency domain techniques such as Fourier Transform are used to detect packet flooding in which a frequency spectrum reveals a periodic pattern to the attack packets. A pulse generator is used to create pulses having the frequency and phase of the periodic pattern. New packets arriving simultaneously with the created pulses are dropped from the system and packets which are not synchronized with the pulse generator are passed through the system normally.
