Abstract

The disclosure relates to a method for preventing damage to a multiphase pump, comprising measuring the differential pressure of a fluid across a multiphase pump over a time period and measuring the axial position of a rotor of the multiphase pump over a time period. The method also involves calculating a pressure fluctuation by measuring the difference between a maximum value of the measured differential pressure and a minimum value of the measured differential pressure over the time period and calculating a dynamic axial position by measuring the difference between a maximum value of the axial position of the rotor and a minimum value of the axial position of the rotor over the time period. Also involved in the method is comparing the calculated pressure fluctuation of the multiphase pump with an expected pressure fluctuation value, and comparing the calculated dynamic axial position of the rotor with an expected dynamic axial position value, and selecting an operating condition of the multiphase pump from one of expected operation, surge operation and choke operation based on the comparison between the calculated pressure fluctuation and the expected pressure fluctuation value, and the comparison of the calculated dynamic axial position and the expected axial position value.

Abstract

A method of monitoring the condition of a connection between two bodies connected using a connector, the connector comprising a sensor assembly, the sensor assembly being operable to provide an output representing the degree of movement of one or both of the bodies to which the connector is secured, wherein the method comprises the steps of a) installing the connector and bodies in a use position in which the connector joins the two bodies, b) using the output from the sensor assembly and a numerical model to determine a measured force one or both of the bodies, and/or the condition of the connector, the numerical model having been obtained by testing the connector or a test connector having the same configuration as the connector by applying a test force of known magnitude to a test element secured to the connector / test connector, recording the output from the sensor assembly whilst the test force is applied, repeating this process for a plurality of test forces, and using the data thus obtained to create a numerical model relating the output from the sensor assembly to the force on the test element.

Abstract

P288355WO 33 ABSTRACT CONNECTOR AND ASSOCIATED METHODS Actuator for providing a subsea electrical actuation. The actuator has a screw 5 assembly with a screw and a threaded part; and a housing for the screw assembly. An axial stop prevent axial movement relative to the housing of one of the screw and the threaded part in a normal mode of operation. A primary drive provides a rotational movement to the screw assembly in the normal mode of operation. The screw assembly converts the rotational movement to an axial movement of a valve member 10 relative to the housing. An override is provided for operating the actuator in an override mode of operation, the override releasing at least one of the screw and the threaded part for axial movement relative to the housing in the override mode.
