A pressure-controlled three-way valve device for inflating, keeping inflated and deflating tires, the device having a plunger axially traversed by an inlet passage normally closed by a spring-urged inlet valve. The plunger's outer sidewall has a recess in which an O-ring extends to abut against the steps of the recess to limit the plunger stroke and keep an outlet circuit closed to a venting port formed in the sidewall of the body of the device. Abstract

The invention is intended specifically for semitrailers formed by a tractor unit (1) and a wheeled container (2) and for use when the pressure inside the air tank of the wheeled container is not sufficient for the nominal inflation pressure of the tyres (4) to be reached. The invention dispenses with the use of the traditional back-up pump, thereby providing the resulting cost-savings, and does not require the use of any other ancillary component in the vehicle. For this purpose, the system uses the air tank (5) of the tractor unit (1) and, in order for the tractor unit to remain physically independent of the wheeled container (2), said air tank (5) is provided with a take-off (6) extended in the form of a resiliently deformable spiral tube (7) terminating in a quick-action connector (8) corresponding to another connector (9) provided on the front wall of the wheeled container. In this way, the connectors (8, 9) allow easy pneumatic connection/disconnection of the tractor unit (1) and the wheeled container (2) whenever these parts are coupled and uncoupled in relation to one another.
