To increase the range of a spin-stabilized projectile which moves in a surrounding medium, the surrounding medium from a stagnant-water region of the projectile is, by means of a part of the rotational energy of the projectile, conveyed under the inflowing boundary layer at the outer surface of the projectile, and thus the speed gradient of the boundary layer in the vicinity of the wall is reduced. For this purpose, the outer surface has at least one encircling groove (9) which is connected by radial transverse ducts (10) to at least one longitudinal duct (11) in the interior of the projectile, which in turn is connected to an opening in the rear of the projectile.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and to devices for improving the shooting performance and shooting characteristics of barreled weapons, which barreled weapons accelerate the projectiles thereof to high muzzle velocity by means of compressed gases from a pressure vessel or by means of powder gases from a propellant charge. For this purpose, the gas column located behind the projectile in the barrel is divided into two parts by the switching process of a valve spatially shortly before the muzzle and temporally shortly before passing through the muzzle, which two parts are completely or partially relieved via one or more throttle valves and discharged to the environment via one or more exhaust openings before the next shot for the purpose of gas exchange and pressure relief of the barrel, wherein the closing force for the closing process of the valve originates from the pressure rise and the flow behind the projectile, which arise as the projectile passes through the valve, whereby the barrel is closed and the gas column is divided, and wherein the restoring energy for the valve is stored in a spring during the switching process, and the holding force for the closed valve originates from the pressure forces and flow forces of the gases flowing out through the valve, and wherein the valve independently opens by means of the forces from the spring as soon as the holding forces from the gas flowing out fall below a minimum value.

Abstract

The invention relates to a supersonic missile (1'), in particular a spin-stabilised projectile, comprising a nose having an external contour and a tip, wherein the outer contour of the nose is divided by at least two circumferential concave fillets (a1, a2, a3, a4, a5) into at least two sequentially successive truncated cones, wherein the transitions thereof extend tangentially discontinuously and form convex circumferential edges (k1, k2, k3, k4, k5). As a result, in a flow around the supersonic missile (1') a sequential succession of oblique shocks is induced, such that the admission pressure of each subsequent shock front is reduced by an expansion fan.

Abstract

In order to reduce the characteristic impedance in a projectile having a projectile nose (1a) and a projectile tail (1b), during the firing operation a spike (2) is extended out of the projectile nose (1a) of the projectile such that the spike (2) acts as an aerodynamic forebody and the flow contour is changed thereby.
