Abstract

A trailer tipper features multi-use tilt sensors for automating leveling and tipping operations. In an example, a computerized method for controlling operation of a trailer tipper is disclosed. The trailer tipper includes a frame at least partially supported relative to a ground surface by a set of outriggers. The trailer tipper further includes a tipping platform that is rotatable relative to the frame about a hinge axis. The computerized method includes a plurality of operations that may be used to at least partially automate leveling and tipping operations.

Abstract

A lifting jack assembly for use on a walking machine to raise it off the ground and preselect a steering direction before the walking machine is lowered onto the ground for travel therealong includes a hydraulic power-driven lift cylinder for actuating an extendable/retractable rod, wherein the lift cylinder is rotatable about its vertical axis. A roller assembly is provided with rollers mounted to the rod. A foot plate mounted below the roller assembly engages the rollers, and a power-driven shifter mechanism mounted on the foot plate and connected to the roller assembly shifts the roller assembly along the foot plate. A linkage assembly interconnects the lift cylinder to the foot plate. A steering mechanism rotates the lift cylinder about its vertical axis to impart rotation to the foot plate and the roller assembly to orient and fix the direction of travel of the walking machine in a preselected direction.

Abstract

A dry-dock walking machine for installation on the deck surface of a dry-dock is operable for transporting a ship to a selected location relative to the dry-dock. There is provided a plurality of laterally spaced-apart, parallel support beams rigidly interconnected and dimensioned to extend transversely beneath the ship and across at least a portion of its width to engage its hull and support it above the deck surface. A lifting jack assembly is mounted on each end of each support beam, and they are spaced apart so that each support beam has a lifting jack assembly positioned adjacent each lateral side of the ship. A stabilizer mechanism is mounted on each support beam adjacent each lifting jack assembly operable for selectively engaging a lateral side the ship's hull to establish and maintain lateral stability of the ship relative to the support beams.

Abstract

A walking system for moving a load over the ground includes a substructure having laterally spaced-apart, rigidly interconnected main beams for carrying the load. A jack support beam is mounted as a cantilever on top of each main beam, and each includes a lifting jack assembly. Each lifting jack assembly includes a power-driven hydraulic cylinder having a ram and foot plate, and each is selectively operable for extending a ram downwardly to force the foot plate against the ground to raise the substructure off the ground, and for retraction to disengage the foot plates from the ground, thereby lowering the substructure to the ground. Each jack lifting assembly includes a shifter mechanism operable for displacing the main beams and the substructure along the ground in a selected steering mode when the lifting jack assemblies are actuated to raise the main beams and the substructure above the ground.

Abstract

A method and apparatus for transporting heavy machinery, equipment or other heavy load (15) from one location to another, whereby the apparatus is constructed to steer the load in order to move the load in a desired path to a set position, one embodiment directed to a walking machine including a plurality of lifting assemblies (100, 102, 104, 106) operative to lift the load above the supporting surface (5) and then move or rotate the load relative to the supporting surface by transporting the load via rollers or tracks (400) in the walking machines, the lifting assembly (120) including a steering mechanism (150-200) using an actuator (250) operative for rotating, via a multi-linkage assembly 230/220, 210), whereby the lifting assembly lower structure (400/110) is rotated relative to the lifting assembly structure to set the walking machine at a desired angle so that lifting assemblies may be driven in a desired walking direction.
