It is described herein a hydraulic lifter for an internal combustion engine. The hydraulic lifter may comprise a lifter body, a self-contained hydraulic cartridge, a pushrod seat, and a retaining clip. The self-contained hydraulic cartridge may be disposed within a cartridge bore in the lifter body. The self-contained hydraulic cartridge may comprise a self-contained hydraulic system such that a lifter piston of the hydraulic system is not directly disposed within a bore in the lifter body.
An improved length adjustable pushrod device for disposition in an internal combustion engine between a rocker arm and a cam shaft comprises a base rod section having a hollow interior extending between an inward seat within the hollow interior and an outward opening at one end of the base rod section and an extension rod section having one end thereof insertable telescopically through the outward opening at the one end of the base rod section and into the hollow interior thereof. The base and extension rod sections define a collective length of the pushrod device when assembled. At least one shim is provided for selective disposition in the hollow interior of the base rod section between the seat thereof and the one end of the extension rod section for selectively varying the collective assembled length of the base and extension rod sections.

An intake manifold assembly for an internal combustion engine that has a modular construction and includes a base member, a runner, and a shell, wherein the base member removably attaches to the engine, and the runner and the shell each separately and independently removably attach to the base member. In another aspect, the assembly further includes a fastener for attaching the runner to the base member, wherein the shell is formed so as to retain the fastener between the shell and the base member when the shell is attached to the base member. In another aspect, the assembly further includes a bumper affixed to a surface of the base member, wherein the bumper abuts a surface of the internal combustion engine. In another aspect, the base member includes a sealing ridge that mates with a sealing groove provided on the shell.
A variable timing limiting device for mounting to a camshaft variable timing mechanism includes a flange having a central opening and a travel limiter extending from the flange, wherein the camshaft variable timing mechanism has a hub and a sprocket having a recessed portion, the travel limiter being matably receivable in the recessed portion of the sprocket. In another aspect of the disclosure, a variable timing limiting device for a camshaft variable timing mechanism includes a free floating travel limiter inserted into a chamber portion of the camshaft variable timing mechanism. In another aspect of the disclosure, a camshaft variable timing mechanism for securing to a camshaft includes a hub, a vane lobe extending from the hub, a sprocket portion having a recess configured to receive an end of the vane lobe, the vane lobe being capable of travel within the recess, and a variable timing limiting device.
