A fecal incontinence device for insertion into a vagina, comprising: a plurality of shell segments, which together form an enclosed cylinder with rounded ends in a collapsed state of the device, wherein one of the cylindrical shells is disposed in the device facing a posterior wall of the vagina when the device is inserted into the vagina; a pressure generating structure attached to and abutting the posterior-facing cylindrical shell; and, a state-changing mechanism configured to reversibly transition the device from the collapsed state to an expanded state.

A device sized and shaped for alleviating organ prolapse when inserted into a vagina, comprising: (a) an adjustably flexible, substantially planar ring; (b) a telescoping locking mechanism extending in a central axis, but within the plane of the ring, from a first side of the ring to a second side of the ring, comprising, (i) a first element extending from a side of the ring including an elastic diamond shaped snap, and, (ii) a second element extending from a second side of the ring, opposite the first element, including at least one window configured as a counterpart to the snap, wherein the device is configured to be in an expanded, treatment rendering state when the snap is released into the window and a reduced profile state when the snap is not in the window.

Abstract

Disclosed are devices for supporting a prolapsed organ. An exemplary device comprises a ring-like body optionally having a naturally occurring substantially flat and substantially planar compact configuration, the ring- like body configured with a size suitable for insertion into a vagina and to be expanded by a support element such that in the expanded configuration an outer periphery of the ring-like body contacts a portion of the vagina and stretches at least a portion of a prolapsed vaginal wall, thereby substantially alleviating prolapse of at least one pelvic organ. The device optionally includes a support element comprising two moveably connected arms configured to support the ring in the expanded configuration.
