Abstract

A ball-and-socket joint assembly includes a stationary object, a movable object, and a mounting apparatus. The mounting apparatus has first and second rigid link sections, each link section having an upper socket section and a lower socket section, so that an upper receiving space is defined by the two upper socket sections and a lower receiving space is defined by the two lower socket sections. The assembly further includes an upper coupler having an upper ball that is received for rotation inside the upper receiving space, with the movable object secured to the upper coupler, and a lower coupler having a lower ball that is received for rotation inside the lower receiving space, with the stationary object secured to the lower coupler. A link member secures the link sections together with the upper ball retained inside the upper receiving space, and with the lower ball retained inside the lower receiving space.

Abstract

A mounting assembly for interconnecting a first object and a second object has a link assembly having a first end that couples the first object, and a second end that couples the second object, and a top plate assembly pivotably coupled to the second end of the link assembly. The top plate assembly includes an upper plate having a plurality of holes for attachment to a receiving device, and a lower plate pivotably coupled to the second end of the link assembly. The lower plate is connected to the upper plate only through a plurality of shock and vibration absorption members, thereby improving the shock and vibration absorption effect.

Abstract

A communication system for use with a motorcycle includes a main unit that has a detector and a transmitter that transmits an alert signal upon the detection of a radar or laser by the detector. The system further includes either a visual indicator or an audio indicator. The visual indicator has a receiver that receives the alert signal from the transmitter, and a display which provides a visual display of the alert signal. The audio indicator has a receiver that receives the alert signal from the transmitter, and a speaker which emits an auditory response of the alert signal. The system can further include a mounting assembly having a connector that is removably connected to a part of a motorcycle, a support bracket to which the main unit is removably coupled, and a link that pivotably couples the support bracket and the connector.

Abstract

A radar detection system for use with a motorcycle includes a main console that includes a single I/O interface, a detector and a controller that transmits an alert signal upon the detection of a radar or laser by the detector. The radar detection system also includes a visual alert that receives the alert signal from the main console, and a display which provides a visual display of the alert signal, with the visual alert being mounted to a portion of a motorcycle. The radar detection system further includes a wiring harness having a plurality of I/O interfaces, including a first I/O interface that is removably coupled to the single I/O interface of the main console, and a second I/O interface that is removably coupled to the visual alert.
