Abstract

A method of colour setting in a rotary printing press, wherein a composition of an ink is adjusted until colour specifications of a printed product, that is formed by a substrate with said ink printed thereon, match given target colour specifications, characterised by the steps of measuring (S1) a volume carrying capacity of an inking roller that will be used in the printing press for printing with said ink, measuring (S2) a spectral opacity of the substrate, - measuring (S3) a spectral absorptivity of the ink when it is in a liquid state in the printing press; and; entering the measured volume carrying capacity, spectral opacity and spectral absorptivity into a mathematical model (S4) for predicting the colour specifications of the printed product.

Abstract

A method for calibrating a rotary printing press, wherein a bearing structure for a printing cylinder is adjusted relative to another component (12; 16) of the printing press, and positions of the bearing structure are measured, comprising by the steps of - mounting a calibration tool (90) on a mandrel (88) that is supported in the bearing structure, said calibration tool having at least one contact sensitive switch (92), - moving the bearing structure until the switch (92) contacts said other component (12; 16), and - upon detection of a signal from the switch (92), storing the measured position of the bearing structure as a reference position.

Abstract

A printing press comprising at least one exchangeable cylinder (10, 12) that is rotatably supported in a machine frame, a movable bearing member (18) froming part of a bearing (44) for the exchangeable cylinder (12), and a sensor head (26, 28, 30) that is capable of receiving signals from a signalling device (22, 24, 32) that is mounted on one of the cylinders (10, 12) of the printing press, characterised in that the sensor head (26, 28, 30) is mounted on the movable bearing member (18) and is arranged to receive the signals from a signalling device (22, 24, 32) at least when the bearing member (18) is in a predetermined position.

Abstract

The invention relates to a rotary printing press comprising a number of colour decks (A-J), at least one of which comprises a cylinder (16, 18), and an adjusting system for adjusting the position of the cylinder (16, 18) in relation to at least one other component (12) of said printing press. Said rotary printing press is characterised in that the at least one colour deck (F) comprises a control unit (50) that is configured to capture and process data relating to the cylinder, said data describing the topography of the surface of said specific cylinder and/or a spatial relationship between a printing pattern and a reference mark (36) embodied on the cylinder. The control unit (50) is configured such that the adjusting system can be controlled according to said adjusting data in order to optimally adjust the position of the cylinder for printing, producing little or no waste at all.
