Disclosed herein are embodiments of a seamless quenched and tempered steel pipe having a wall thickness (WT) higher than or equal to 35 mm and lower than or equal to 80 mm. Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure comprise carbon steels and methods of manufacturing thick walled pipes (wall thickness greater than or equal to about 35 mm) there from. In one embodiment, a steel composition is processed that yields an average prior austenite grain size greater than about 15 or 20 μm and smaller than about 100 μm. Using this composition, a quenching sequence is provided that yields a microstructure of greater than or equal to about 50% by volume, and less than or equal to about 50% by volume, lower bainite, without substantial ferrite, upper bainite, or granular bainite. After quenching, pipes may be tempered. The quenched and tempered pipes may exhibit yield strengths greater than about 450 MPa (65 ksi) or 485 (70 ksi). Mechanical property measurements find the quenched and tempered pipes suitable for 450 MPa grade and 485 MPa grade, and resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking.

Abstract

Low-alloy steels and methods of manufacturing pipes having a wall thickness greater than or equal to about 8 mm and less than or equal to about 35 mm therefrom are provided. In one embodiment, a steel composition is processed that yields an average prior austenite grain size greater than about 15 or 20 μm and smaller than about 100 μm. A quenching sequence has been determined that yields a microstructure of greater than or equal to about 60% martensite by volume, and less than or equal to about 40% by volume lower bainite, without substantial formation of ferrite, upper bainite, or granular bainite. The yield strength of the quenched and tempered pipes may be greater than about 70 ksi, 80 ksi, or 90 ksi. The quenched and tempered pipes are suitable for 70 ksi, 80 ksi, and 90 ksi grades and resistant to sulfide stress corrosion cracking.

The gas is then put under pressure and a portion of the pipe assembly (1) is heated by means of a hot induction device (9) until reaching an appropriate temperature to allow a good deformability of the metal, a bending moment then being applied while maintaining controlled pneumatic internal pressure in the interior of the pipe assembly (1).

Abstract

A nickel-based superalloy consisting in wt% of Co =1-8%; W = 7-15%; Mo =1-8%; Ta = 7-15%; Al = 4-9%; Cr <0,5%; C ≤ 0,1% and the remaining being Ni impurities having a mechanical strength at very high temperature, up to 1300°C, higher than that of the known superalloys by raising the Tsolidus of the alloy and developing an intermetallic γ' phase in high percentages by volume, higher than 70%, which maintains its properties practically unchanged until the incipient melting of the alloy, having a Tsolidus, i.e. a solvus temperature of the γ' phase higher than the Tsolidus of the alloy, i.e. the temperature at which the liquid phase starts being present.

Abstract

The present invention pertains to steel with high mechanical resistance at room temperature and up to 130° C., good toughness and good corrosion resistance in the metal base as well as good resistance to cracking in the heat affected zones (HAZ) once the tubing is welded together, and more specifically to heavy gauge seamless steel tubing with high mechanical resistance, good toughness and good corrosion resistance called catenary conduit. The advantages of the present invention with respect to those of an the state of technology reside in providing a chemical composition for steel used to manufacture heavy gauge seamless steel tubing with high mechanical resistance, good toughness, good fissure resistance in the HAZ and good corrosion resistance and a process for manufacturing this product. These advantages are obtained by using a composition made up basically of Fe and a specific chemical composition.
