Abstract
An apparatus and method for dissembling electronic devices are described. The apparatus includes a housing with an aperture providing access to an interior thereof, and an adjustable support assembly positioned therein. The support assembly includes a first side plate and a second side plate with spacing in between, and a base plate for supporting an electronic device. A user interface is provided for receiving a user input, and in response to the user input, a motor is configured to drive a ram member downwards to contact and apply force to the electronic device held in the support assembly. A sensor may be included to measure the motor load current and output the measured load to an indicator to be viewed by a user for determining when a shell of the electronic device has been cracked.

Abstract
A magnetic field verifier apparatus includes a magnetic field detection element configured to produce a voltage signal in response to an applied magnetic field wherein the voltage signal corresponds to the strength of the applied magnetic field. Substantially identical circuit boards or units are connected to a central unit or mother board to place magnetic field detection elements of each board or unit in an mutually approximately orthogonal relationship. A microcontroller is in communication with the voltage signal. The magnetic field verifier apparatus is configurable to sense particular field strengths at various frequencies and store the readings to provide the user with a reliable verification that a particular magnetic field strength has been produced in a particular environment.

Abstract
Generation of an intense magnetic field to erase high coercivity magnetic media uses delivery of energy to a degaussing cavity. To conserve energy storage and delivery requirements and to obtain a desired magnetic strength generally uniformly within the cavity, strategic placement of supplemental turns at ends of the magnetic field generating coil wound around the cavity can promote uniformity. Construction of at least cavity ends from an adequate quantity of magnetically soft ferrous material can also promote uniformity. A combination of both approaches is possible.

Abstract
A magnetic field verifier apparatus includes a magnetic field detection element configured to produce a voltage signal in response to an applied magnetic field wherein the voltage signal corresponds to the strength of the applied magnetic field. A current source coupled to the magnetic field detection element provides a stimulating current for the magnetic field detection element that builds in a ramp-like progression. A microcontroller is in communication with the voltage signal wherein the microcontroller is configured to detect and control the ramping time of the magnetic field detection element and to sense after the ramping time the voltage signal from the magnetic field detection element. The magnetic field verifier apparatus is configurable to sense particular field strengths at various frequencies and store the readings to provide the user with a reliable verification that a particular magnetic field strength has been produced in a particular environment.

Abstract
A system for degaussing magnetic media includes a media transport carousel mounted to move in a first direction into the system and through a magnetic field generator and to move in a second direction through the magnetic field generator and out of the system. An automatically reversible transmission transmits via a plurality of gears rotational force from an input shaft in a first rotational direction to drive the drive element and the media transport carousel in a first direction. The automatically reversible transmission is configured to transmit via a second plurality of gears the rotational force from the input shaft in the first direction to drive the drive element to move the media transport carousel in a second direction opposite of the first direction. A media rotation assembly automatically rotates the media transport carousel after it passes a distance through the magnetic field generator.

Abstract
A system and method for deforming and puncturing magnetic storage media includes one or more pivot arms that support one or more rotationally driven rotatable members bearing multiple deforming members or punch points. The punch points impact the media, producing the deformation, while the rotational forces push the media through the system, and the pivot arms adapt to media characteristics and widths to protect against jams. The puncturing force may be adjustable
