The backrest carrier (37) and the seat link (15) are respectively fastened in a rotatable manner on the carrier framework (35), the backrest carrier (37) and the seat surface (3) being coupled to one another at a distance apart for movement, via an individual coupling member arranged between them, such that a rearwardly directed tilting movement of the backrest (5) is converted, at the reference point (15), into an upward pivoting movement of the seat surface (3). Such a design provides for an automatic weight-related mechanism which makes it possible to keep the opposing force exerted by the backrest (5) essentially independent of the absolute inclination.
