Abstract

Provided is an ammonium ion analysis method for quantifying ammonium ions with high sensitivity by employing a chemiluminescence method. This ammonium ion analysis method comprises: a preparation step for preparing a measurement solution containing ammonium ions and humic acid that serves as a sensitizer; a measurement step for charging the measurement solution and a reagent containing hypobromite ions into a reaction cell to measure the intensity of chemiluminescence in the reaction cell; and a quantification step for quantifying ammonium ions from the intensity of chemiluminescence which has been measured in the measuring step on the basis of a calibration curve showing the correlation between the concentration of the ammonium ions and the intensity of chemiluminescence.

Abstract

Provided is a disinfectant for Legionella bacteria, the disinfectant being characterized by containing an iron salt as an active ingredient. Examples of the iron salt are ferrous salts such as iron(II) sulfate (ferrous sulfate) and ferric salts such as ammonium iron(III) sulfate (ferric ammonium sulfate). Also provided is a water treatment method for treating water that contains Legionella bacteria, wherein the water treatment method is characterized by introducing an iron salt or iron ion into the water to be treated to reduce or inhibit the proliferation of Legionella bacteria contained in the water. In accordance with the present invention, Legionella bacteria present in, e.g., bathwater or air-conditioning cooling tower water can be conveniently killed or sterilized while exhibiting a high level of safety and reassurance.

Abstract

A method for processing oils and fats containing a free fatty acid and oil content, the method including: (A) a step for adding a compound for forming a salt of a free fatty acid to an oil or fat containing the free fatty acid and oil content, generating the free fatty acid salt, and forming a layer that includes the generated free fatty acid salt and a layer including the oil content; and (B) a step for separating the layer including the free fatty acid salt from the layer including the oil content thus formed.
