Abstract

A tunable insert assembly for a tunable exhaust system is disclosed for use with an air intake engine of a vehicle. The tunable exhaust system may include an intake tube having first and second ends with a first flange, an exhaust tube having third and fourth ends with a second flange, and a clamp to securely affix the first flange of intake tube to the second flange of exhaust tube. The tunable insert assembly may comprise a register ring, insert, and orifice plate with an opening. The insert may be perpendicularly disposed through the opening of orifice plate, while the register ring may be disposed over and circumferentially surrounds an outermost surface of orifice plate. Lastly, the exhaust system may be configured to produce a desired range of tunable sound pressure levels and a desired tunable sound frequency range based on various predetermined diameters and lengths related to the insert(s).

In particular, the manufacturer-installed sway bar bushing bracket may be replaced with a reinforced sway bar bushing bracket with an integrated tow hook that may serve as a more robust sway bar bushing bracket, as well as providing a strong connection point with a tow hook.

Abstract

An air filter retention interface for use with an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The interface is substantially secured in an opening of a wall and the interface attaches to an air filter at the front end of the interface and an air intake tube on the back end of the interface. The interface has a filter sleeve and a filter base. During operation of the engine the filter sleeve is disposed through the opening in the wall such that the wall is between beads disposed on the external surface of the filter sleeve and the filter base thereby substantially securing the interface in place and the front end of the filter base is attached to the filter and the back end of the filter base is attached to the air intake tube and air passes through the filter then through the filter base and filter sleeve and then into the air intake tube and toward the engine.

An air filter retention interface for use with an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The interface is substantially secured in an opening of a wall and the interface attaches to an air filter at the front end of the interface and an air intake tube on the back end of the interface. The interface has a filter sleeve and a filter base. The air filter assembly is in contact with the housing such that the air filter resides within the housing and the outer surface of the first engaging member engages the housing. The inner surface of the second engaging member is adapted to contact an air intake tube outer surface so that air can pass from the air intake port into the housing then through the air filter and into the air intake tube.

Abstract

An intake flow device and system for coupling a turbocharger's compressor intake to an air intake is disclosed. The flow device may be cylindrically shaped, flexible, and configured to fit on an intake flange of the compressor. An intake conduit may be fitted around the flow device, such that the intake conduit may retain a large diameter for increased air flow, rather than necking down to mate with the intake flange. The flow device may incorporate compression ribs around its outer circumference for positively mating with the air intake conduit and may incorporate a recess within its interior for securely mating to a lip on the intake flange. The flow device may also be graduated to direct air from the intake conduit to a smaller diameter compressor intake. Guide vanes may also be provided within the flow device to control and direct air to the inlet of the turbocharger.

Abstract

An elongated air intake manifold, for coupling a compressor outlet to the air intake of an internal combustion engine, includes bottom, top and side walls progressing from a circular upstream end through a sweeping curved central section to a 90° bend section terminating in a peripheral rim surrounding an air outlet port. The peripheral rim has opposed proximal and distal sides and a lower surface facing the engine air intake opening. A pair of proximal and distal mounting screw receptacles are formed integrally with and located on the interior and exterior of the manifold, respectively, for receiving mounting screws to secure the manifold to the engine. Preferably, the proximal mounting screw receptacles are arranged so that the heads of the mounting screws extend a minimum distance into the manifold interior.
