Abstract

The invention comprises a hydraulic cutting tool (24; 86), a system, a method, and also uses of the cutting tool (24; 86) and the system, for hydraulic cutting through a pipe wall (26) of a pipe body (8). For this purpose, the cutting tool (24; 86) is provided with at least one cutting section (52; 88, 90) comprising at least one fluid discharge body (54; 54´). Each such fluid discharge body (54; 54´) comprises at least two outwardly directed discharge openings (76a, 78a; 76a´, 78a´) having non-parallel discharge directions (70a, 72a; 70a´, 72a´) directed at a common intersection point (74; 74´) located outside the fluid discharge body (54; 54´). The cutting is carried out by means of an abrasive fluid (32) being supplied, via a flow-through pipe string (30), to the at least one fluid discharge body (54; 54´) from a remote location. Thereby, abrasive cutting jets (76b, 78b; 76b´, 78b´) will discharge at high velocity from the fluid discharge body (54; 54´) so as to meet and disperse in the intersection point (74; 74´), thus weakening the further cutting ability of the cutting jets (76b, 78b; 76b´, 78b´).

Abstract

A method is for removing casing from a well. The method includes setting a first sealing element into fluid-sealing engagement with the inside of the casing, lowering a flow-through string into the well, a cutting tool and a second, reversibly expandable sealing element being connected to the string, forming perforations into the casing by means of said cutting tool, expanding the second, expandable sealing element into fluid-sealing engagement with the inside of the casing, passing a pressurized fluid through the string and into the annulus via the perforations, so that the viscous and/or solid mass is displaced up the annulus, cutting the casing around its entire circumference; and pulling a length of the casing up from the well.

Abstract

A method of removing casing (3) from a well (1) is described, the method including the following steps: (A) setting a first sealing element (11) into fluid-sealing engagement with the inside of the casing (3); (B) lowering a flow-through string (9) into the well, a cutting tool (93) and a second, reversibly expandable sealing element (91) being connected to the string (9); (C) forming perforations (31) into the casing (3) by means of said cutting tool (93); (D) expanding the second, expandable sealing element (91) into fluid-sealing engagement with the inside of the casing (3); (E) passing a pressurized fluid (95) through the string (9) and into the annulus (5) via the perforations (31), so that the viscous and/or solid mass (55) is displaced up the annulus (5); (F) cutting the casing (3) around its entire circumference; and (G) pulling a length (L1) of the casing (3) up from the well (1).
