Abstract

The invention relates to a device for thermally processing a conveyed quasi-continuous workpiece, in particular a flat body, having a conveying device for transporting the workpiece in a conveying direction, an NIR radiant heater for heating a surface of the workpiece by means of radiation, the substantially effective portion thereof being in the range of near infrared and the power density thereof on the surface being greater than 100 kW/m2, a liquid cooling device downstream of the NIR radiant heater in the conveying direction for applying a cooling liquid to the surface, and a cooling liquid discharge device for removing the cooling liquid from the surface, wherein the cooling liquid discharge device comprises a gas jet device for applying a pressurized gas to the entire surface covered by cooling liquid for blowing off the cooling liquid from the surface.

Abstract

A radiation dryer (1) having a chamber design, particularly as part of a drying system for drying a coating on a quickly passing carrier (5), comprising a radiation product transport channel (3) for conveying a radiation product (5), a first radiator block (9.1), which in the usage position is disposed on a longitudinal side of the radiation product transport channel (3) and for maintenance purposes can be moved away from the longitudinal side or pivoted with respect to the usage position, said radiator block comprising a plurality of radiator elements (11), particularly of the NIR or UV type, and a second radiator block (9.2) or counter reflector block, which in the usage position is disposed on a second longitudinal side of the radiation product transport channel (3) and for maintenance purposes can be removed therefrom or pivoted with respect to the usage position.
