Abstract

Liquid surface treatment compositions are disclosed containing a surface-active agent, an amine neutralized phosphonic acid and water. The amine neutralizing agent is represented by a combination of two structurally different amine species, a first more hydrophobic species and a second more hydrophilic species having distinct HLB values. The HLB value of the hydrophobic species is smaller, by several units on the HLB scale, compared to the HLB value of the hydrophobic species. The compositions are found to be particularly beneficial in relation to the removal of stubborn greasy stains.

Abstract

The invention relates to a wash and cleaning composition for cleaning surfaces and subjects, preferably for the use in industrial and institutional applications, comprising a mixture of: - aminotrimethylene phosphonic acid ("ATMP") and/or the salt of ATMP as one component, and - as the second component - diethylene triamine penta (methylene phosphonic acid) ("DETPMPA"), and/or the salt of DETPMPA, and optionally and additionally as a third component - (i) phosphonobutane tricarboxylic acid ("PBTC") and/or the salt of PBTC, or (ii) homopolymer maleic anhydride ("HPMA") and/or the salt of HPMA, or (iii) a mixture of (i) and (ii); or - N-oxide of ATMP and/or the salt of the N-oxide of ATMP as one component, and PBTC and/or the salt of PBTC as a second component; or - hexamethylenediamine tetra(methylene phosphonic acid) ("HDTMP") and/or the salt of HDTMP as one component, and - as a second component - (i) N,N'-bis-(3- aminopropyl)-ethylenediamine hexa methylene phosphonic acid ("NEHMP"), and/or the salt of NEHMP, or (ii) bis(hexamethylene) triamine phosphonic acid ("BHMT") and/or the salt of BHMT, or (iii) a mixture of (i) and (ii). The wash and cleaning composition shows at least the same good effect in chelating calcium compared with NTA and EDTA, and the chemicals used for substituting NTA as well as EDTA show even better washing and cleaning properties when used in much lower concentration.

Abstract

A method of secondary oil recovery is disclosed wherein from 0.1 to 100 000 ppm of a medium soluble aminoalkylene phosphonic acid amine salt are used wherein both the aminoalkylene phosphonic acid moiety and the amine moiety are selected from a specifically defined class of compounds. The substantially medium soluble aminoalkylene amine phosphonates exhibit a significantly improved compatibility with the recovery medium and thus can propagate fairly freely into the medium and consequently cover a largely extended rock surface before being subject to precipitation in the form of a medium insoluble scale inhibitor. The amine compound is represented by combinations of structurally different compounds.
