Abstract
A method for transmitting data or sensor data by radio between a preferably fixed battery-operated node and base station in a communication system with bidirectional radio transmission, includes providing a base station communication module having a first frequency transmitter, and a node communication module having a first frequency transmitter and second frequency transmitter with lower frequency. The node communication module transmits data in the uplink to the base station communication module by splitting a radio telegram into data packets transmitted successively with temporal spacing. The base station communication module transmits data in the downlink to the node communication module by splitting a radio telegram into data packets transmitted successively with temporal spacing. To improve downlink reception quality, two calibrations of first and second node frequency transmitters occur during transmission of the sum of a sequence of uplink data packets and subsequent sequence of downlink data packets including periods therebetween.

Abstract
Communication between a terminal, such as a consumption meter, installed at a fixed location and a mobile data collector, by way of Wireless M-Bus, via a short-range radio receiver. Data from the terminal is forwarded to the data collector via a bidirectional WPAN interface. The terminal sends a message periodically and unprompted for the communication set-up and subsequently opens a reception window after a period of time. In response, a command or a command sequence is conveyed from the mobile data collector to the receiver and to the terminal in one or more reception windows. The receiver determines the reception time at which the message arrives at the receiver, and the receiver stipulates the time at which the command or command sequence is transmitted onward to the terminal, so that the command or command sequence is received by the terminal within one reception window or multiple reception windows.

Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for transferring a payload (40) within a time interval (T) from a node (10) via a wireless communication channel to a base station (20) having a defined overall reception bandwidth (B), wherein: at least one, preferably a plurality of channel-coded data packets (40-1, 40-n) is/are produced from the payload (40) and is/are transmitted within the time interval (T); in the base station (20), one data packet (e.g. 40-1) can be decoded individually or the received data packets (40-1, 40-n) or at least a subset of the received data packets (40-1, 40-n) can be decoded collectively; a clock frequency generator (9) of the node (10) produces a carrier frequency (TF); the clock frequency generator (9) has a frequency offset; the data packet (e.g. 40-1) or the data packets (40-1, 40-n) is/are transmitted with a carrier frequency (TF) lying within the limits (H1, H2) of a transmission bandwidth (SB, SB') of the node (10); and the carrier frequency (TF) lies within the limits (G1, G2) of the reception bandwidth (EB) of the base station (20). In order to increase the number of nodes (10) per base station (20) without increasing the production costs of the node, according to the invention, the carrier frequency (TF) is generated in node (10) within the transmission bandwidth (SB, SB') on the basis of random variables and the limits (H1, H2; H1', H2') of the transmission bandwidth (SB, SB') are defined in such a way that there is a probability (N) that a carrier frequency (TF) generated in the range of the limits (H1, H2; H1', H2') on the basis of the random variables lies outside of the limits (G1, G2; G1', G2') of the reception bandwidth (EB, EB') because of the frequency offset of the clock frequency generator (9).

Abstract
A software defined radio type radio receiver is used in an environment that is self-sufficient in energy. The radio receiver has a receiving device, which receives the data in the form of a data packet or a portion thereof or a data stream at a certain data rate, and provides the data for further data processing. Wherein in an operating mode, the data is diverted at the receiving device and supplied to a microcontroller at a sampling rate which preferably can be defined. The microcontroller decimates the data by selecting a subset from the set of samples, and the microcontroller buffers in a memory and provides for further processing the decimated data.

Abstract
A method selects frequency channels in a communication system using a frequency hopping method, in which data are transmitted between a transmitter and a receiver. The data are transmitted as data packets having a plurality of bits in a frequency/time block. A respective data packet is coded before transmission by the transmitter and is decoded after reception by the receiver. The transmission quality of the frequency channels is evaluated and, a decision is made for a selection of the frequency channel which is used for the transmission of the data. A likelihood ratio for the likelihood of a successful transmission is determined before the decoding by the receiver, the likelihood ratio is used as a metric for determining the interference state of the respective data packet, and the transmission quality of the respective frequency channel is evaluated on the basis of the interference state of the data packet.

Abstract
A method collects data, a physical or physico-chemical parameter and/or an operating state, during operation of a sensor. The sensor contains a measuring element which provides elementary measuring units, which correspond to a physical or physico-chemical variable or the physical or physico-chemical parameter, as raw measurement data, and the sensor has a communication device and a memory. To determine the measurement resolution of the sensor, the conditions for generating time stamps are first determined using a correlation model. Time stamps of successive raw measurement data are generated in the sensor on the basis of the correlation model. The time stamps are transmitted with the result that the raw measurement data acquired by the measuring element are reconstructed and evaluated based on the time stamps using the correlation model. Wherein operating state monitoring of the sensor is carried out by comparing current time stamps with historical and/or empirical time stamps.

Abstract
A method collects data via a sensor being part of a supply network which distributes a consumable. The sensor contains a measuring element which provides elementary measuring units, which correspond to a variable or a parameter, as raw measurement data, where consumption data are generated from the elementary measuring units. The sensor has a communication device and a storage device. To determine the measurement resolution of the sensor, the conditions for generating time stamps are determined using a correlation model. Time stamps of successive raw measurement data are generated in the sensor based on the correlation model, the time stamps are transmitted via a wired connection and/or via a radio path, with the result that the raw measurement data acquired by the measuring element are reconstructed and evaluated on the basis of the time stamps using the correlation model. The consumption data are transmitted in parallel with the time stamps.

Abstract
A method operates a supply system having a measuring unit and a central unit. Information is transferred repeatedly at specific time intervals via a communication network by radio between the central unit and the measuring unit. The measuring unit or the central unit receives the information and then generates a receipt confirmation, which it transmits to the central unit or the measuring unit respectively. The central unit or the measuring unit, after transmitting the information, opens a receive window of a certain time length for receiving the receipt confirmation. As a result of a first trigger event, the time intervals between the repeat transmissions of the information are shortened, and/or an additional receive window for receiving the receipt confirmation is opened, and as a result of a second trigger event, the time intervals between the repeat transmissions are lengthened, and/or no additional receive windows are opened.

Abstract
A method and a device are used during battery operation of a smart metering meter equipped with a consumption sensor and a transmit clock generator for a radio module for transmitting consumption data packets, in the event of a decreased residual capacity of the battery, to determine if the data packets can be transmitted as previously with the residual capacity over the residual time period until a scheduled battery exchange at the end of a specified operating time period. If not, the transmit power, for example, of the data packets is reduced and/or their transmit clock is extended over the residual period. This determination, along with a control specification, are preferably performed in a concentrator and are transmitted to the meter by using bidirectionally operating radio modules so that computer capacities required therefor need not be retained in each individual meter of a supply area.

Abstract
Data are transmitted by radio between a terminal and a data collector. The data collector is intermittently or constantly in receive mode. The terminal attempts, from an idle phase, to set up a communication with the data collector in order to send all or some of the data to the data collector and/or to receive them from the data collector. Alternatively, the data collector attempts to set up a communication with the terminal in order to send all or some of the data to the terminal and/or to receive them from the terminal. The setup of the communication is followed by the terminal sending a message to the data collector and the data collector, after receiving the message, continuing, interrupting and/or terminating the transmission of the data during communication on a basis of the content of the message.

Abstract
A method operates a radio transmission system with a radio transmitter and a radio receiver. The radio transmitter has a transmitter timer and transmits a packet and/or a subpacket and/or a plurality of packets in succession for the transmission of data. A carrier frequency and the transmission times of the data and/or the carrier frequency and the sampling rate of the data and/or the transmission times of the data and the sampling rate of the data depend on the transmitter timer. The radio receiver has a receiver timer with time-measuring measures to define transmission times, carrier frequencies and/or sampling rates. The radio receiver estimates an error on the basis of the received data and determines a time error therefrom. A temporal correction factor for the compensation is defined on the basis of the time error.

Abstract
A method operates a data recording system which has a central station, an intermediate station, and a terminal station. The central station and the intermediate station define a tertiary, two-way communication path and the central station and the intermediate station define a primary, two-way communication path via a radio link. A plurality of messages or message parts which have different validity time limits are generated in the central station on the basis of a command, the plurality of message parts which are valid for a limited time are transmitted from the central station to the intermediate station. The validity of the message parts is checked in the intermediate station, and, if a message part is still valid for transmission from the intermediate station to the terminal station, the message part concerned is transmitted within a message from the intermediate station to the terminal station.

Abstract
Data are transmitted and/or received in a communication system by a communication participant, which has a communication device, a microprocessor, and an energy supply. The latter has an electrical variable that changes from an initial value when it supplies the microprocessor and/or the communication device with energy. The microprocessor encodes the data before transmission and/or decodes the data after reception, each using a computing cycle. When the electrical variable changes during the computing cycle, it is interrupted, preferably at any desired point. The encoding and/or decoding are carried out separately during the computing cycle in individual encoding phases in which the value of the electrical variable changes. Regeneration phases for regenerating the electrical variable are provided between and/or within the encoding phases. The duration of a regeneration phase is such that the value of the electrical variable approaches or reaches the initial value during the regeneration phase.

Abstract
Domestic data are transmitted in the form of data messages from a data source to a memory in an unsynchronized manner in time slots via a freely accessible and accordingly heavily used transmission channel. On account of the interfering influences on the long data messages which occur in this case, the transmission of the data messages must be repeated several times until a data message is received without interference once. A comparator is used to determine a packet error rate from the ratio of the number of data messages received without interference over a certain period to the number of data messages actually transmitted during the period. A predefined packet error rate can be adaptively complied with despite varying transmission circumstances by varying the repeated transmissions per unit time.

Abstract
A method improves the transmission quality between a data collector and a plurality of metering units. A first communication module is assigned to the data collector and a second communication module is assigned in each case to a metering unit. The second communication module transmits data via radio signals to the first communication module. The first communication module has a first frequency reference device and the second communication module has a second frequency reference device. The radio signals transmitted are dependent on the second frequency reference device. The measurement of a parameter of the radio signal is performed by the first communication module. An estimation of an error of the second frequency reference device on the basis of the parameter measured values is determined. An adjustment of the frequency of the first frequency reference device is performed such that the error is reduced.

Abstract
A method provides communication between a meter and a flying device. The meter records consumption data. The flying device performs flight movements to a prescribed target position of the meter. Radio signals are received by a reception device and information is ascertained, relating to the transmission quality of a radio channel, based on the received signals. A poor transmission quality, satisfaction of which is dependent on the quality of the information, results in the reception of received signals and the ascertainment of the information being repeated after a communication protocol for communication with the meter has been changed, a position of the flying device being altered and/or a directivity of the reception device is altered until the transmission quality or a termination condition is satisfied. Upon having a satisfactory quality condition, meter information is captured and a message for controlling the operation of the meter is sent to the meter.

Abstract
To optimally receive smart meter control messages transmitted by a concentrator, in a meter having a transceiver for bidirectional data interchange, despite its minimal resources, a current modulation reference frequency which is subject to drift is shifted by the instantaneous frequency difference between the current transmitter-side reference frequency and the current transceiver-side reference frequency in the concentrator. Therefore, the current reference frequencies correspond in the downlink without having to intervene in the meter. This frequency difference in the concentrator is obtained by comparing the current receiver-side demodulation reference frequency with the current transmitter-side reference frequency, and the current transceiver-side reference frequency, on the other hand, from messages from the transmitter of the concentrator and from the transceiver of the meter which are received using the receiver of the concentrator. A frequency-measuring comparator only needs to be connected upstream and downstream of the demodulator in the concentrator for this purpose.

Abstract
During a battery operation of a smart metering counter (11), which is equipped with a consumption sensor (14) and a transmission clock generator (17) for a wireless module (19) for transmitting consumption data packets (20), a check is carried out in the event of a conspicuously reduced remaining capacity of the battery (21) in order to determine whether the data packets (20) can thus also be transmitted as previously over the remaining time period up to the routine battery change at the end of the specified operating period. If not, the transmission level of the data packets (20) for example is reduced and/or the transmission clock (27) thereof is extended over the remaining runtime. This determination together with control specifications are preferably encountered in the concentrator (13) and transmitted to the counter (11) by means of bidirectionally operating wireless modules (19) in order to not have to provide the required computing capacity in each individual counter (11) of the coverage area.

Abstract
Domestic data in the form of data telegrams (14) are transmitted from a data source (10) to a storage unit (20) via a freely accessible and correspondingly occupied transmission channel (17) in an unsynchronized manner in time slots. Due to the resulting interference acting on the long data telegrams (14), the data telegrams must be transmitted multiple times (n) until a data telegram (14m) is received without interference. A comparator (21) is used to determine a packet error rate (PER) from the ratio of the number (m) of data telegrams received without interference over a known period of time to the number (n) of data telegrams (14m/14n) actually transmitted during the same time. By varying the transmission repetitions (n => n') per unit of time, a specified packet error rate (PER) can be adaptively maintained despite varying transmission conditions.

Abstract
During the repeated transmission of information in the form of a coded package (14) from a transmitter (11) via a wireless connection (13) to a receiver (12), a fault-free receipt package (14') is quickly provided when fault-free partial packages (15) from the package (14) are lined up as partial packages (15) of the fault-free receipt package (14'). For this, partial packages (15), which are allocated to each other on the receiving side, of successively received and temporarily stored packages (14) can be compared with each other and if they match can be incorporated in the receipt package (14') to fill gaps. Or the successive packages (14) are split up on the transmission side to form partial packages (15) to which error identification codes (16) are assigned, which partial packages (15) are included in the receipt package (14') as soon as they have been correctly received in a package (14).

Abstract
The invention relates to a method for selecting frequency channels (K1 - Kn) in a communication system using a frequency hopping method, in particular for detecting consumption of consumption measuring devices in which data is transferred between a transmitter and a receiver by means of radio transmission. The data is transferred in the form of data packets (4) comprising several bits in a frequency/time block, the transfer of the data packets (4) or parts of the data packets (4) taking place on several different selected frequency channels (K1 - Kn), the respective data packet (4) or a parts thereof being coded prior to sending from the transmitter and is decoded after receiving it from the received, the transmission quality of the frequency channels (K1 - Kn) is evaluated and using the evaluation of the transmission quality of the frequency channels (K1 - Kn), a decision is taken for the selection of the frequency channel (K1 - Kn) or frequency channels (K1 - Kn) which is/are used for transferring the data. A probability ratio (WQ) for the probability of a successful transfer is determined prior to decoding by the receiver, the probability ratio (WQ) is worked out as a metric for determining the disturbance state of the respective data packet (4) or one part thereof, and the evaluation of the transmission quality of the respective frequency channels (K1-Kn) takes place using the disturbance state of the data packet (4) or one part thereof.

Abstract
Mobile units moving in a local network environment and at times in the vicinity of meters of the network, at least temporarily bypass relay functions of a concentrator operated in a stationary manner, if the relay function is not yet available, for instance during construction, for radio communication of data packets of the meter linked into the smart-metering network to a center. The mobile units are persons and/or vehicles with communication devices such as smartphones for long-distance links over the Internet or in the mobile radio standard. The communication devices, as modified mobile radio telephones, receive data packets from meters by using hardware or a software app over a short-distance link to the mobile unit being accidentally temporarily located in the vicinity of the meter. Long-distance communication of packets from mobile unit to center then takes place over the Internet or the mobile radio standard.

Abstract
The aim of the invention is to achieve optimal receipt of the smart meter control telegrams (15) transmitted by a concentrator (data collector 12) in the case of a measuring device (11) having a transceiver (13) for bidirectional data exchange despite the minimal resources of said measuring device. This aim is achieved in that the current modulation reference frequency (f17) in the data collector (12), which modulation reference frequency is subject to drift, is shifted by the instantaneous frequency difference (Δf) between the current transmitter-side reference frequency (f17) and the current transceiver-side reference frequency (f13). Thus, the current reference frequencies (f17 = f13) match in the case of the downlink without intervention in the measuring device (11) being required. Said frequency difference (Δf) in the data collector (12) is obtained from a comparison of the current receiver-side demodulation reference frequency (f16) with the current transmitter-side reference frequency (f17) and with the current transceiver-side reference frequency (f13) from telegrams (14, 21) from the transmitter (17) of the data collector (12) and from the transceiver (13) of the measuring device (11), which are received by means of the receiver (16) of the data collector (12). Without demand for the resources of the measuring device (11), all that is required therefor is merely the connection of a frequency-measuring comparator (20) before and after the demodulator (24) in the data collector (12), followed by a frequency subtractor (22) connected to the transmitter-side conditioner (19.17) in order to derive the reference frequency (f) from an oscillator frequency (F).

Abstract
In a bidirectional wireless data transmission system meter transmitters and concentrators communicate in wireless uplink and downlink connections. In order to be able to receive measured value data messages more reliably from the meter transmitters, the quality of wireless uplink connections which can be better received is reduced. This is done in that the concentrator acts with control signals via wireless downlink connections on parameters, such as transmitting power or message management, of the control of uplink transmitters. For this, uplink quality criteria automatically retrievable in the concentrator are, in particular, absolute or relative levels, signal-to-noise ratio and a relative number of receivable data messages.
