Abstract

A washing machine capable of generating bubbles from a water/air mixture and supplying bubbles to the tub to facilitate removal of residual detergent or the like from laundry during washing or rinsing operations. The washing machine has a dissolving unit with an air supply check valve and can receive air from outside of the dissolving unit in accordance with a pressure in the dissolving unit. Air contained in the dissolving unit can be dissolved in water contained therein to produce water/air mixture. A bubble generating unit receives the water/air mixture from the dissolving unit and generates bubbles as the mixture passes along a water flow path and a pressure reduction region in the bubble generating unit.

Abstract

A refrigerator includes an ice-making unit disposed in the door and can make ice through direct cooling by a refrigerant without using cold air flow. A cold air generation system operates to circulate the refrigerant for supplying a cold air flow for the refrigerator. A refrigerant pipe is installed in the refrigerator main body to branch off some refrigerant from the cold air generation system. An ice-making pipe is installed within the ice-making unit and receives the refrigerant from the refrigerant pipe. Water freezes into ice through heat transfer between the ice-making unit and the ice-making pipe containing refrigerant. A soft pipe is disposed around a hinge shaft of the refrigerator main body and the door and configured to interconnect the ice-making pipe and the refrigerant pipe in a twistable manner.

Abstract

A washing machine with a liquid additive supply device capable of sensing an amount of liquid additive contained therein. A buoyancy body and a sensing unit are disposed in a reservoir tank of the liquid additive supply device. The vertical position and therefore the distance between the buoyancy body and a sensing unit vary with the surface level of liquid additive in the reservoir tank due to buoyancy effect. The buoyancy body may include a magnetic body and the sensing unit can detect the intensity of the magnetic body. The surface level of the liquid additive is too low, the sensing unit can generate a signal indicative of liquid additive shortage.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a refrigerator having a temperature change room, the refrigerator comprising: a refrigerator main body in which a freezer compartment and a cold room are partitioned; refrigerator doors which open and close the freezer compartment and the cold room, respectively; and a temperature change room disposed in the cold room so as to maintain a low temperature, i.e. a temperature for keeping stored articles fresh. The rear surface in the temperature change room and the inner and upper rear surface in the refrigerator main body which contact the temperature change room are connected to each other so as to be in communication, and thus a cold-air supply means is arranged so as to directly receive the supply of cold air from an evaporator disposed on the rear side of the refrigerator main body. Therefore, the present invention has the effects of solving a fundamental problem of the articles, which are stored in the temperature change room, being exposed to the odors specific to the freezer compartment, and of enabling the set temperature of the temperature change room to be rapidly reached.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a refrigerator in which a water tank for storing water supplied into an ice maker and a dispenser is received in a shelf within the refrigerator. The refrigerator according to the present invention includes: an ice maker disposed within a freezing compartment; a dispenser disposed in a front surface of a door; a water tank slidably disposed in a shelf within a refrigerating compartment; a pump for pumping water stored in the water tank into the ice maker and the dispenser; a passage for connecting the water tank to the pump; and a silicon inflow hole defined in a rear surface of the shelf, and having one end connected to a discharge hole of the water tank and the other end connected to the passage. Thus, the water tank, in which purified water is stored, but which is not a direct water supply system, may be received in the shelf within the refrigerator to supply water into the ice maker and the dispenser through the pumping of the pump.
