Abstract

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing retaining a plurality of contacts therein. The contact includes a mating part with a first body and a spring arm extending therefrom for mating a conductive pad of a CPU (Central Processing Unit), and a soldering part with a second body and a solder tail extending therefrom for mounting a solder ball thereon. The spring arm is downwardly pressed by the CPU to contact the soldering part when the CPU is mounted upon the electrical connector The mating part and the soldering part are spaced from each other either without any connection, or alternately linked with each other via a bridge transversely connected therebetween wherein the latter may optionally omit the barbed structure from one of the mating part and the soldering part.

Abstract

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing and a contact module essentially composed of a plurality of contacts integrally formed within an insulator via an insert-molding process wherein the contact module is assembled to the housing via two steps along different directions perpendicular to each other. The housing forms a plurality of protrusions engaged with the corresponding ribs of contact module in the vertical direction so as to retain the contact module to the housing reliably. All the insulator, the contacts and the housing are arranged in a staggered manner.

Abstract

Abstract

An electrical contact forms opposite top surface and bottom surface. A guiding groove is formed in the top surface. A mounting section is formed at an end of the contact. In the mounting section, a securing hole extends downwardly from the guiding groove and through the bottom surface. A solder unit is received within the securing hole and reaches a conductive pad, under the contact, to which the contact is soldered by reflowing the solder unit. The guiding groove extends from an oblique section of the contact so as to assure the socket unit can be smoothly dropped into the securing hole. The solder unit can be temporarily retained within the securing hole before reflowing.
