Abstract
A device for cutting piles (10) has a main frame (12). First and second clamps (22a, 22b) are supported on the main frame in-line along a common axis X for clamping a pile (24) to the device. A cutting assembly (40) is supported on the main frame between said first and second clamps. The cutting assembly carries a pile cutting blade and is moveable between a retracted position and an advanced position. The device (10) has a mounting assembly (60) for attachment to a vehicle. In one aspect, the main frame (12) is rotatable relative to the mounting assembly (60). In another aspect, the first and second clamps (22a, 22b) apply a pre-load to a pile clamped between them tending to bend the pile so as to prevent the blade being nipped.

Abstract
An apparatus for cutting a pile having a pair of cutting members having a first cutting member having a first cutting edge and a second cutting member having a second cutting edge. The first and second cutting members are pivotally mounted at separate primary pivot axes and are moveable about the primary pivot axes in order to move the first and second cutting edges with respect to each other between rest and cutting positions. The first and second cutting edges are parallel with respect to each other when in their respective cutting positions.
